CSUEB- Cal State East Bay Spring 2022 Concord Campus

Published

Hello everyone,

Application period is officially open so I wanted to start a thread and see how everyone's feeling!

Darna, did you meet all the minimum requirements? I’m wondering if they are sending out all notifications or maybe to the people who may have not met the minimum requirements or may have not completed all pre-reqs.

G, I met all the requirements. I have all my pre-reqs with 4.0 GPA and over 200 hours of training in medical field. I also applied in Solano but ADN not sure when will I hear from them since the school is lottery ?

I did apply for Dominican University but not sure when will get notified. I heard we should hear from Dominican next month?

This is what I found and it might be helpful for point calculation despite it being from 2019.

Has anyone had any science retakes? They start deducting points after the first retake according to this document.

However, based on the stats of those who recently received denial letters, I’m inclined to believe they’re no longer using this method for evaluating applications. It also doesn’t mention anything about personal statements, which are now used ☹️.

Ugh! Lord help us! ?? The waiting and uncertainty are killing me!!

It's probably different now but how different can it be? I imagine it would somewhat be similar but with a personal statement being included in it. On the CSUEB website, they stated that "Each additional science prerequisite repeat for a higher grade within a seven-year time period results in point deductions from the total application points."

Someone mentioned that they didn't even look at his personal statement. So I'm not sure how much personal statement is weighed in.

When I met with one of the counselors, she stated that they now heavily consider multicultural health related experience. So having healthcare experience is great, but you can get more points based off the type of experience you have. She said something along the lines of “the experience section is looked at in three layers/levels”.

Also, they said once they calculate points. Then the top 1/3 get their personal statements looked at. So if you don’t make top 1/3, then your personal statement will not be read.

I see. Do you guys think that they will continue to offer 60 spots? Record high applicants are probably applying this year cycle.

I think concord campus only accepts 46-47? I could be wrong, but I remember her saying a really low number of seats. She said the Hayward  campus accepts more students than Concord campus.

So they will select from the top 1/3 applicants after factoring in the personal statement?

Yeah, that’s the way she explained it in the information session. Total up the points, top 1/3 get statements read and they accept applicants after reading the statements. So the statements strongly Influence their decision.

Per the information meeting w. East Bay in August 2021, they accept 1/3 of 350-450 applications, and put 30 in wait list.

They look at the scores first, and then the personal statement.

Thank you for the information!

Your nursing application point total compared to other applicants was not high enough to qualify you for admission or waitlist status. Point totals take into consideration prerequisite GPA, TEAS score and optional point categories.

I have a 98.7 TEAS score, 4.0 GPA, 110 hours of health care experience, & 290 hours of community service ? do not have local/language/vet points though.

Wow your TEAS score is amazing. What did you study?? I'm shocked you got denied with stats that good. Well you will def get into Sac State with those scores!!
