CSUDH Entry MEPN Program - Fall 2010 Applicants

Published

i've been following a few threads and i love the excitement and anticipation of those waiting for acceptance letters/phone calls to a particular program and the camaraderie that it creates. i would love to get a thread going to show support and updates for those of us who have/are applying to cal state dominguez hills mepn program for fall 2010. i submitted my portfolio and application on november 30th. i was told that i should expect an interview in january. this is the only program i'm applying to. i know some may say that isn't smart, but i've done alot of research and it is the best/only one that meets all of my needs: prereqs, location, program duration, nclex pass rate and cost. being 30 and already having an expensive master's from usc in a field that i have decided to walk away from in order to follow my heart, i know that this program is the one for me. so i'm stepping out on faith and claiming my spot in the fall 2010 cohort. in my workshop, they said that they only expect to accept 35-40 students for fall. would love for others to share their experience with applying to this program and hopefully many of us will start this journey together are csudh in the fall! good luck to everyone!

Walked in the door, saw the mail on the table, one being a regular sized envelop from Dominguez, and guess what........I GOT IN!!!!! YAY!!!! I'm so excited and happy, I don't know if I should laugh or cry!!!!

Academic Plan: Clinical Nurse Leader!!! YAY!!!:dancgrp:

Jill, we will get to meet! Yay!!

Best of luck to the rest of you, sending positive thoughts of acceptance letters your way!!!

WHEW-HEW!!!!

Woo hoo! Congrats!!

You found out earlier than you thought too! Makes life a lot easier from here on out...well, except for patho. :)

(Not sure where you found the dancing super heroes -- hilarious!)

I was in LA this weekend and got excited when I saw the CSUDH sign on the 405!

Thanks, Jill! I've been looking at the letter all weekend (I even made copies of it! LOL). Yes, I can breathe somewhat, but I still have to finish out this semester, but now that I know, it gives me more incentive to do well! I'm so excited!

When do you plan to move back?

Ha ha! Who are the copies for?? Or are they just to post in various rooms of your house? :lol2:

I plan to move down in early August...I need to work as long as possible! I'll probably come down in July to look for a place to live, but there is a chance I might move in with my sister. We'll see...

The copies are proof!!! I have this weird paranoia that it was a mistake and I need the copies to prove that it isn't, just in case I misplace the original letter! LMAO:p:rolleyes: Girl, I'm crazy, I know!

Ha ha! I know exactly what you mean! I keep re-reading the letter to make sure I didn't misunderstand it...and I keep expecting someone to tell me it was a mistake!

:yeah:I got my letter today and I got in!!! I am so relieved - I can finally plan ahead and know what my life will be like in 6 months... well, kind of. The letter was weird ... no detailed information on how to accept the spot, etc. I guess that will come from the department later on. The letter said to go to the "Class Schedule" on mycsudh, but there is nothing there on mine yet.

I can't wait! We should all meet up this summer and go to dinner or something to meet ahead of time.

Kim

:yeah:Yay Kim! Congrats!! I know, wasn't the letter very vague. No mention of the SON contacting us or anything - another reason why I made copies! LOL.....But it seems we all got the same letter and pink sheet on how to access mycsudh and email sites. But I'm sure we'll be contacted by JE soon! I'm so happy for you!!

Yay, Kim! Congrats!

I know what you mean about the letter...I assume we will get something more informative from the school in the coming weeks??

Yes, lets meet up this summer!

What # cohort would we be? I can't remember how many they already have had and I'm trying to avoid looking it up. Does anyone know off the top of your head?

Kim

Hi Kim,

I don't know what # cohort.

Didn't the program start in 2006, so we'd probably be #4?? No idea...

Jill

Hey Kim! I think the program started in 2006......I think. So if cohort 1 graduated in 2008......that would us cohort 5 (class of 2012)......I think! LOL

But that's a great idea!
