Hey guys!
I just wanted to start a thread for the Fall 2017 ABSN at CSUSM at the Temecula campus so we could all go through this process together and get to know each other! I know it's still early since the deadline isn't until March but I have submitted my application recently and I'm impatient.
So if anyone else has applied or is planning on applying, let's get a conversation going!
Good luck everyone!
I don't know much about CSUF but I believe they're both 2 years and they both have good NCLEX pass rates so I would look at tuition cost. I'm going to assume CSUF is cheaper, but I'm not sure. Maybe you can look at housing cost too. Otherwise, I would say it's just location preference.
Is anyone worried about the cost? I have no student loans from my first bachelors so I'm going to have to take out loans for tuition and living expenses because I'm going to have to quit my job and I'm so stressed over it :/
Im so excited that many of us here are admitted into the program. Im kinda a bit off topic here, does anyone get any insights about the ABSN program at CSU Fullerton and San Marcos like what good and not good about them? Since Im deciding which school to attend.
Go to CSUF if you want to pursue advance practice nursing because they have a preference for selecting their own students over students from other schools. I would personally choose CSUF because 1. I can commute there 2. It's 5 semesters vs 6 semesters at CSUSM 3. Future opportunities for more schooling (specifically their CRNA program) 4. Smaller class size so the professors would know you better 5. Overall, more organized program in my opinion.

The cost is definitely something to think about. I will most likely turn down my offer and attend an ADN program.
I also worry about the cost since I'm pretty much going to need loans to pay for everything, but I also know I'm investing in my future. I also have to quit my job which sucks. Hopefully having roommates will help lower costs.
Same here, I've talked things over with at least 20 people this past week, majority of whom are nurses, and family and friends and I have decided I am going to go with CSU San Marcos over the ADN program. This hasn't been an easy choice, but I know I am worth the investment and I feel it is the best option for me personally. I can't wait to meet you all come orientation!
I just applied for a private loan and hoping all goes well too! Excited for all of us, despite loans! Also interested in looking for roommates! Hope I can get to meet all of you at orientation and maybe some potential roommates. Otherwise I will likely be renting a bedroom out of someone's house because I cannot afford a place to myself :/ Hope we hear about orientation soon!
