Mount Saint Mary's University ABSN Fall 2017 Application
Thanks @hritchie13! I hope our paths cross again too! It would've been nice to go into the same program! Yeah I'll be at San Marcos. Our classes start Aug 28th I believe but they haven't given us much info on orientation/immunization/background check so we're all just waiting :/ But yeah MSMU is taking so long I would imagine most people have been looking at other places. Hope they call this week so you can enjoy this 3 day weekend! :)

I'm SO surprised it's taking them this long! I thought they said early to mid May! Maybe they meant early to mid June lol. Good luck! :)

CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2017
I agree with those saying that there might not be any spots left for fall, but we don't know for sure. Your best bet would be to call or email them. I applied in mid January for the Summer cohort and got my evaluation a month and a half later. Then in late April I received an email saying Thank you for your application for Fall (even though I didn't apply for fall) and a couple days later I got the acceptance email. Turns out they rolled my application to the next cohort because Summer was already full. @jdwong, with 38 points, I'm sure you'll get in to the Spring cohort if the Fall is already full!

CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2017
Hey thepilgrim1923! What did your schedule look like for the first semester? Since I already got credit for nutrition, I will only take 2 classes and I'm wondering if I could continue to work at my current job and just commute for the first semester. Also, how early on was your orientation/background/immunization check? They haven't given us any information and many of us are dying to know more! Thank you!!

CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2017
Hey roasted.peanuts! I would definitely be interested in more info! I'm going to have to move for sure because a commute from the San Gabriel valley would be the worst lol. Sent you a PM earlier this week!

Samuel Merritt University ABSN Fall 2017
Thanks @shelgym! I'll be going to CSU San Marcos. It's about 70miles from home so I'll still have to move but I wouldve had to move for SMU anyway :/ So many loans You should definitely look into it if SMU doesn't work out. I originally applied for summer 2017 but never heard back then suddenly heard back saying I was in for Fall 2017! So their applications are on a rolling basis for a year it seems.

Samuel Merritt University ABSN Fall 2017
No but I don't think I'll be getting one because I was supposed to email and tell them the class I need is "in progress" but I already got accepted somewhere else so I'm not going to take that class in the summer after all.

Samuel Merritt University ABSN Fall 2017
I finally heard back from SMU directly too! I applied mid February and just this past Wednesday I received an email for my application status saying that my application has been reviewed and they gave me a summary of my classes and test. I'm now supposed to reply with any changes in order for my application to move forward to the next step.

CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2017
I just applied for a private loan and hoping all goes well too! Excited for all of us, despite loans! Also interested in looking for roommates! Hope I can get to meet all of you at orientation and maybe some potential roommates. Otherwise I will likely be renting a bedroom out of someone's house because I cannot afford a place to myself :/ Hope we hear about orientation soon!

Mount Saint Mary's University ABSN Fall 2017 Application
Ugh that's a crazy drive for me too! Well tuition cost is A LOT cheaper than MSMU (but not really when you factor in cost of having to move out of my parents house) but also just googling stuff about both. NCLEX passing rate was a big reason for me. CSUSM is about 94% pass rate last year and MSMU around 75%. Also, my prereqs are completely done for CSUSM but I still need like 2-3 more for MSMU (I forget exactly how many) which means I'd have to cram them in this summer. I'm sooo tired of taking prereqs so I'm just kind of ready to start. I actually forgot I applied to CSUSM lol! I applied for summer 2017 and never heard back so I assumed I didn't get in and then next thing you know I get admission email for fall lol.

Mount Saint Mary's University ABSN Fall 2017 Application
I think I'll be attending CSUSM. I'll still wait to see what MSMU says but I think I've already made my choice. I would only lose $150 so it's not bad at all. Price wise, after calculating cost of living, it's only little cheaper to go to CSUSM so either way I'll still have to take out a significant loan :/

Mount Saint Mary's University ABSN Fall 2017 Application
Thanks!!! Yeah I got accepted into CSU Sam Marcos ABSN program. It's cheaper than MSMU but it's a 24 month program so a bit longer and I don't think I'll be able to commute because it's a 70ish mile commute. That would kill me! But I've already submitted my intent to enroll but I'm looking into student loans and so far no luck :/ I have no loans now from my first bachelors so I'm SO stressed out over having to take such a huge loan :/ I just hope it's worth it!

Thanks you too!! Have you heard back from any of the other schools you applied to? I heard back from one but now the reality of student loans is starting to set in and I have so much anxiety over it :/ I gotta figure out how to get a private loan for all my costs because I missed the FAFSA deadline Do you mind me asking what your plans are for financing the program??

CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2017
I don't know much about CSUF but I believe they're both 2 years and they both have good NCLEX pass rates so I would look at tuition cost. I'm going to assume CSUF is cheaper, but I'm not sure. Maybe you can look at housing cost too. Otherwise, I would say it's just location preference. Is anyone worried about the cost? I have no student loans from my first bachelors so I'm going to have to take out loans for tuition and living expenses because I'm going to have to quit my job and I'm so stressed over it :/
