How many here has applied for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at CSULA?
I know it is a little bit early to talk about this, but I just submitted all of my grades, TEAS scores (ATI sends them to CSULA SON for you), and notification of health care work experience (dental assistant) from an employer.
It has been a long and anxious wait till April/May for letters of acceptance to come in, so I hope this thread can help everyone who is dealing with the same anxiety and stress that we are all dealing with.
So If anyone would like to share their overall "points" score, or questions regarding pre-reqs TEAS etc. I would be alright to share all of you mine, and answer some questions that I might know.
Thanks and godspeed everyone!
According to the admissions website, http://www.calstatela.edu/univ/admiss/deadlines.php , the Enrollment Confirmation Deposit ($100 non-refundable) has to be sent (postmarked) by May 2nd.
I wouldn't pay the deposit until you were accepted. Usually everybody is sent their acceptance letters at least a week or so before the deposit is due. If you don't get a letter a week before the deposit is due, call or email the office.
You might find it useful to look at what people posted last year on these forums: https://allnurses.com/ca-nursing-programs/csu-los-angeles-475691-page2.html .
I can't be more helpful on this topic because I wasn't a transfer student and never had to go through paying the deposit.
I had a 24/31 and I know a couple of people who got accepted with a 23. That being said, each year is going to be different. It all depends on who you are going to be competing with, remember they are just going to pick the top 50. In my opinion, with a 22 or 23 you probably have good odds.
Question. If you don't attend CSULA and they require nutrition before the first semester, and your current school doesn't offer it how do you take it? I mean if you don't find out your accepted til mid April so you have the summer to take it? Huh? See what I mean? What a dumb requirement.
I don't apply until Sept but is like to know ahead of time
I think you have some bad information. You are talking about the four required classes in "related fields"; Anth444 medical anthropology, Human nutrition NTRS250 or NTRS317, psy160 psychology of developing person, and an inferential statistics course HHS400. These are not prerequisites to get into the program and they won't give you any extra points when you apply. I don't think you need the nutrition class during the first quarter, since I know a couple of people who took their nutrition class during the first and second quarter. Although these classes are not required for admissions, you should get through with them as soon as possible. This is because theses classes are either pre-reqs or co-reqs for future nursing classes. For example, in our third quarter, Anthro444 is a co-requisite for family nursing. Statistics is a pre-req for Nursing research, which our class will probably take during the fourth or fifth quarter, and Soc2o1 is a pre-req for Nurs216. When you enter the program, the schedule in which classes are taken may be different but I am almost positive, you don't need it during the first quarter. In fact, I don't think the nutrition class is even a pre-req for any nursing class. To recap, the four aforementioned classes can be taken while your in the program but they should be taken as soon as possible.
Read first paragraph
I read the page and I saw the part that said a nutrition class is a prerequisite for the first quarter. It wasn't like this when I applied and I completely agree with you; this is a dumb prerequisite because not many community colleges offer nutrition classes. Maybe someone else in this thread can help you because they probably have to take a nutrition class before the first quarter too. The best person you could talk to about this concern would probably be the associate-director of the program. She always replies promptly and she is very knowledgeable, just don't flood her inbox. You can find her e-mail in the following page: http://www.calstatela.edu/academic/hhs/nursing/office.php
If you do e-mail her please post her response.

Hello future nurses,
I am a member of the class that entered last fall (fall 2010). If you have any questions about the nursing program at CSULA don't be afraid to ask me.
For those of you anxious about getting your acceptance letter, I remember I got mine in mid-April so yours may probably arrive soon.
I haven't read any of the previous post, but I'm going to try to read the posts after this one.
