How many here has applied for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at CSULA?
I know it is a little bit early to talk about this, but I just submitted all of my grades, TEAS scores (ATI sends them to CSULA SON for you), and notification of health care work experience (dental assistant) from an employer.
It has been a long and anxious wait till April/May for letters of acceptance to come in, so I hope this thread can help everyone who is dealing with the same anxiety and stress that we are all dealing with.
So If anyone would like to share their overall "points" score, or questions regarding pre-reqs TEAS etc. I would be alright to share all of you mine, and answer some questions that I might know.
Thanks and godspeed everyone!
Hi everyone! New to this forum but I also applied and haven't heard back from the SON. I'm super nervous and looking out for that letter in the mail.
So if acceptance letters are mailed by May 15, does that mean that if you don't get an acceptance letter, you can still have a chance with your public speaking or Microbio grades due on June 22? Volunteer work or a CNA status wouldn't change anything in the ranking because those were due last month, right? I've taken the rest of the pre-reqs and currently taking Microbio and I'm thinking it'll boost up my grades/GPA if I do well in the course.
Is that how it'll work? I'll be super sad if I don't get in, but I think I'll have better chances in Spring.

Hey, actually, letters of acceptance may come out as early as mid april; that is why I made this forum so people would find out when they were actually starting to send it.
Yes, you can still get into the program as long as you have submitted your Comm and Micro grades before June 22nd. As long as you pass these classes with a C or more, you are okay, because these grades are not intrumental in ranking your Pre req GPA, it only goes into your Cummulative GPA this year.
So hypothetically, if you have a 4.0 overall GPA, and you get a C and Micro and Comm, you will then will have a 3.7-3.8 GPA; but you would still have 5/5 points for cummulative GPA
since a 3.7 or higher constitutes for 5 points!
Thus, passing these classes with a C or higher does not affect your points of ranking, and even if it could, it would only affect you by 1 point at the most.
if you hypothetically get both A's in these classes, then contrary to the first example, it may boost your cummulative GPA by 1 point (i.e. if you have a 3.6 overall GPA, and those A's contributed to a 3.7, it would raise your points from a 4 to a 5 in cummulative GPA)
However, if you don't submit your grades or fail one of these classes, you forfeit your spot to someone else.
I hope that answers your question in detail :)
about being super sad, you shouldn't. I learned that worrying about something, will never increase your chances of success. If you did everything you could, and still didn't get in, that is a moral victory in itself, because you will have no regret for being a "game" candidate. if it is meant for us, it is meant for us.
Personally, if I don't get in, that will just show me that this program wasn't meant for me, although I did everything I could to make it work.
I'll find that out in a few weeks...
Hello. I only looked around allnurses.com so far but i feel like everyone here is going through the same thing as me..
I also applied for CSULA SON for Fall 2011 and haven't got any letters yet! My score is 21-22 so it doesnt look that promising. But after reading all these posts, I guess I'm lucky not to get any letter so far..haha
How many of you apply to other schools? I applied to 7 schools- CSULB, CSULA, CSU San Bernadino, Biola, Azusa Pacific, Mount Saint Mary's College, and CSU Fullerton(as health science major). I got rejected from CSULB already(which I already kinda expected lol)
Anyone who applied to the schools mentioned above?
I am not planning on going to Biola because their nursing only accept students who have been at Biola for at least 3 semesters.
ANYONE WANTS TO SHARE THEIR STORIES?
