CSU Los Angeles School of Nursing (CSULA Fall 2011)

Published

How many here has applied for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at CSULA?

I know it is a little bit early to talk about this, but I just submitted all of my grades, TEAS scores (ATI sends them to CSULA SON for you), and notification of health care work experience (dental assistant) from an employer.

It has been a long and anxious wait till April/May for letters of acceptance to come in, so I hope this thread can help everyone who is dealing with the same anxiety and stress that we are all dealing with.

So If anyone would like to share their overall "points" score, or questions regarding pre-reqs TEAS etc. I would be alright to share all of you mine, and answer some questions that I might know.

Thanks and godspeed everyone!

I think second week of June hopefully. She goes to CSULA. So I told her to watch out for the date her micro is due. She is retaking it at my school.

Hey All,

I am applying for the Entry Level Masters in Nursing Program. I have an interview this weekend. Does anyone have any advice as to what they ask or what specifically they are looking for? Has anyone gone through this process? Any information would be helpful, so that I can be prepared as much as possible.

Also, is the point system applicable to masters students? If so, where can I find the criteria?

Thanks All

well, unfortunately, since I'm an undergrad, I haven't had any research for it. But I can redirect you to this thread, it should have everything that you are looking for:

Good luck, and God bless,

let me know how it goes, because I'm interested in that in the near future :)

hi guys

i applied for csula for fall 11 too and i have 21 points which isnt alot.... this school isnt my first choice though but i will be happy to get in anywhere!! i am so nervous about everything.

we all are. and I know how you feel. Opening the mail box everyday, knowing that you could get rejected. What keeps me going is my Faith, and my belief that I am NOT in control of my future; I only work towards it.

I wish you the best of luck and I'm here for you and everyone!

since they arent taking anyone with 2nd BA/BS degrees (thankfully) for the generic program...

Do they give healthcare experience 4 points instead of 3? and so that bumps up volunteer work from 2 points max to 3?

I hope so.

I have a CNA license and I plan to get the max amount of points...anyone know of any jobs open? lol

unfortunately, they don't. the max points that you can get in that category is 3. so technically, the points system is out of 30

As for jobs, you really have to look. I know that CNAs have a higher chance in being employed at nursing homes since they are demand there, but not that much people apply. You should inquire about that.

An arguably striking fact that I found, based on the statistics, it seems to me that they also rank based on ethnicity. (it doesn't make sense when there is always a certain ratio of Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Asians, as well as a certain ratio of Female to Males every year).

So i guess as an white girl, I am screwed eh? LOL

oh i see

hmm. I am wondering how they calculate overall GPA.

Cause i went to cal poly pomona for a year and started an engineering major.

Horrible mistake! I took all hard engineering classes, college calculus and calculus based physics. I also lost my job that year so my GPA for that year dropped to 2.8!

My current GPA at a CC is 3.2 and I still haven't factored in my current classes nor my summer and this fall. So I am hoping it will raise.

I am just wondering if they just average the two out?

if so I am screwed!

No ethnicity is not the determining factor. As a student at CSULA, whites are actually the minority on campus. GPA and TEAS are. I don't know where that ratio stems from, but it's an interesting stat.

didn't you say they rank of ethnicity? i hope not lol

yeah, they would. overall GPA is based on your entire college career, from university and CC. I know of a friend who has the same problem. high pre-req but low overall. she still managed to get a mid 20 score.
