CSU Long Beach School of Nursing (Fall 2010)

U.S.A. California

Published

This thread is for those who are aspiring a seat in CSU Long Beach's School of Nursing for Fall 2010.

We all know the current impaction of the program. We are all familiar with the challenging process.

We understand the competition between all the applicants. You are not alone!

I submitted my application yesterday and I must tell you the relief I suddenly had.

I have worked hard the past two years of my life and there is nothing else I can do but pray and hope. =]

Has anyone else turned in their application?

Wow, that is just terrible. Considering that CSULB only accepts transfers once a year, for this to happen is extremely unfortunate for you. However, I can see how this mistake could have happened. I think you should fax or send a copy of your course description to them and hopefully they'll reconsider you or at least put you on the waiting list? Did you go to the interview?

They didn't even give me an interview because my application was considered incomplete. They simply invited me to fix the deficiency and then reapply for the next term. I've been calling all morning to speak to the Admissions Coordinator who doesn't seem to be at her desk (despite my being told she would be available after 10 am). Frustrated doesn't even begin to describe how I feel at the moment.

now im scared... i called some friends of mine, and they said they had interviewed last week. My friend said there were only about 55 recipients on that email, and she told me there must be a second batch of email to the other 55 students( to complete 110 interviews).... I don't know if all 110 interviews have been given, but my last name starts with a Y, and just assuming that there will be another batch of emails sucks....... should i say that i didn't make it in, and throw in the towel?

=[

No, because it is possible you're on the alternate list or something. Keep you hopes up and make sure you have an option B if CSULB doesn't accept you.

Yes, keep on trying! CSULA (back-up school) sent me a letter saying that I am no longer being considered for their nursing program because I did not send my TEAS score. I did so I contacted their office. They told me they've been having a lot of trouble with receiving scores from ATI and requested me to fax my scores to them. I did and now I am back in the applicant pool! =P They make mistakes and they know that.

Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the oil!!!

anywho, 1-2 weeks more till we get our utmost waited responses! =]

Happy St. Patrick's Day btw! =D Wear GREEN!

really? 1-2 weeks? They told my group that it would be mid April before we heard anything. Is 1-2 weeks maybe when they post it at CSULB? I really hope that it is one to two weeks.

After the interview, they directed our attention to the white board and said, "we will notify you guy with our decisions in 2-3 weeks." And this was last Tuesday. The interview was fun btw. =]

I was also told 2-3 weeks!

I was in the very first interview group so they must have added the white board after. I'm glad to hear that it is going to be much much sooner than I expected :D Good luck to everyone. Hopefully we will all be classmates come fall.

I was told this morning that CSULB never has and never will accept Chemistry 10 from Santa Monica College despite the course description from what I took it matching the CHEM 140 course description. According to Monalisa (the Admissions Director), in her five years with CSULB they have never felt SMC's syallbus was adequate for their requirements. :(

After we had that discussion she also went on to tell me that it doesn't really matter since they had so many applicants this year that the cut score was 8.9/10 which I was below and therefore had no chance of acceptance in the first place. Something tells me that CSULA won't treat me any better so I guess I'm going to be stuck doing an ADN program (which will make for a total of three Associates degrees when I'm done) and THEN start the BSN/MSN path. C'est la vie.

Good luck to everyone else. I was told by the Department of Nursing at CSULB that they completed all their interviews last week and have sent out all of the denial letters. They have not yet sent out acceptance letters.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I attend SMC and I had to call CSULB regarding the Chemistry class because assist.org indicated that SMC offered no Chem class that was equivalent to Chem 140 and I already had taken Chem 10. I found out from Monalisa that the closest school offering the class was Chem 20 from El Camino College. So I had to go to class in SMC in the morning, work, then El Camino College at night. Chem 10 that I took did contain materials for biochem so I was a bit frustrated to go through the same materials again. I understand how you feel about the chem class. But I guess guidelines are guidelines. You should check assist.org for the specific classes you need to take.

I just got a letter today that I was ACCEPTED!!

Just kidding. Still waiting patiently. :D
