CSU Long Beach School of Nursing (Fall 2010)

Published

This thread is for those who are aspiring a seat in CSU Long Beach's School of Nursing for Fall 2010.

We all know the current impaction of the program. We are all familiar with the challenging process.

We understand the competition between all the applicants. You are not alone!

I submitted my application yesterday and I must tell you the relief I suddenly had.

I have worked hard the past two years of my life and there is nothing else I can do but pray and hope. =]

Has anyone else turned in their application?

Hi everyone,Am a transfer student from citrus college looking forward to join CSULB SON fall 2010.I am excited got the email for the interview and scheduled it on 9th 11:00am. but the same time am worried since dont know what to except.Anyone with a clue, what to expect?

Ok I just called the school of nursing and asked how many people applied, and he said roughly around 400 people. (:& to answer your question stek I'm pretty sure we're just going to do communication exercises, and watch a movie and answer questions about it.

Sooo I have an interview this week and I was wondering if anyone knew what the writing assingment was going to be? I think last year it was on a video, but none of the info I have received from the nursing department regarding the interview states anything about a video. All it says is writing assingment, one on one interview, then group interview. If anyone has any info please please share. Thanks :)

We're all wondering the same thing. Hopefully, those who goes first will chime in and let us in on the details.

Yes please!

Good luck on all of those getting interviewed tomorrow! The interview confirmation email sent out las week had 46 addreesees attached to it. So I'm guessing maybe only 46 people made an appointment? Good for those who got an interview I guess! =]

Again, good luck to those scheduled for tomorrow!

Anyone who went for interview today?how was it?

I went this morning. Basically, all you do is communication exercises. You will be evaluated on how well you comprehend a video, and how well you give and receive directions. Also leadership qualities seems to be valued in the group discussion. All of you will do fine as long as you're not anti-social or have difficulty speaking and understanding English. It was kind of fun and not stressful at all. Get a good night's sleep and you'll be fine. Sorry, that I can't tell you more. I don't think it would be fair to the others.

Anyone know when will we be finding out if we got accepted?

they're gonna be sending out acceptance letters in about 2 to 3 weeks so keep your fingers crossed

Is it just me or is the waiting part really excruciating? lol. had to vent before I sleep. Good luck everyone.

Waiting for the acceptance or rejection letter does suck big time, but we (CSULB applicants) should consider ourselves lucky. I applied at 3 other CSUs and won't be hearing from them at all until sometime in April. At least with CSULB, we know we have at least a 81% chance of being selected based on the interview request e-mail alone (assuming all 110 interviewee have equal chances and 90 will be selected).

I received a letter in the mail on Saturday from CSULB saying that my application could not be considered since I was missing the Chemistry prerequisite. This was quite perplexing to me because I completed the Chemistry prerequisite at Santa Monica College back in Spring 2007. I've been trying to get a hold of the program coordinator all morning to discuss this. From what I can ascertain, SMC changed their Chemistry 10 course description after I took the class in 2007 to no longer include biochemistry. Since CSULB requires Chemistry 140 or its equivilent (which is inorganic, organic, and biochem) they must have just looked at the current description for the SMC course and denied me. I pulled up the course description from when I took it back in '07 and it DID include biochem at that time.

My big concern at this point is that they may have filled all their spots by now and I'm gonna be left high and dry despite their error. VERY upsetting and frustrating. :(
