Hey everyone! I am going to be applying for Chico's nursing program for Fall 2020. Just wondering how everyone's application process is going and what their point standing is as of right now. I am very nervous but hopeful!
Hey everyone! I officially submitted my Chico State application! Depending on how they evaluate some of the documents I have submitted, I'll have around 90-95 points!
But right now I am a bit discouraged though because I am just barely making the cutoffs for the programs I am applying to, so I am really worried that I won't get into any program this application period. Chico is a great school and I would be very lucky if I could attend. A very stressful time for us all, but I hope it works out for everyone in the end and I hope everyone is doing well amidst all this!

we're definitely all pretty stressed haha. It's terrible. I've applied to 18 different programs so far (and 3 more this month), so it's been very expensive on top of that to apply and order all these transcripts haha. Try to stay positive, which I know is easier said than done. We will get in somewhere eventually. ?

Yes, it's definitely pricey! The fees related to requesting transcripts (especially if you attended multiple colleges), sending TEAS scores, and the fee of sending the nursing application itself really add up when applying to multiple schools. You also have to keep track of all those deadlines! I did not want to put myself in that situation so I narrowed it down to 3 schools. I really admire and applaud your determination and optimism to get accepted into a nursing program! We'll get there.

I had to make an Excel spreadsheet on my Google doc to keep everything in line. My mind is obsessed and anxious this round for sure haha ?

I definitely get why you are stressed. Chico is pretty much my only hope, as I know I don't have enough points to get into my other choice which was Sac State (I know I definitely should have applied to more than 2 schools but I didn't). 90-95 points is pretty good standing! obviously 95 would be ideal but I definitely think you have a good chance! Especially after people decline their acceptance and they accept those on the alternate list. What parts of your documents do you think they may evaluate differently and change the amount of points you have?
I mentioned earlier in this forum that it says we have to accept or decline the initial acceptance by May 1st but we won't even hear back from the nursing program until the 1st to 15th. I'm planning on giving them a call or emailing them when I have a chance about this so I will update you guys when I have an answer on what to do about that.
Just now, Kaiya Patterson said:Scorpiodez, did they ever email you back confirming your points after you sent them your point evaluation?
Yes, they did. They were very nice. Pretty much, I miscalculated my pre req and overall GPA because I took Stats, English and psych with Bs many years ago and retook those classes recently with As so they averaged out the grades instead of taking my most recent. I had a 4.0 of my last 60 units but that only qualified me for the selection pool, they look at overall GPA for actually points. Basically, I didn't read the fine print and assumed they would use last 60 units of GPA for points. I get that now. With that being said, I have no clue how to calculate what my points would be this round because of how they would average GPA and repeated courses. So I'm pretty much going in blind at this point LOL

Thats super weird that they area averaging the grades from the classes instead of using the most recent or better grade. And that does seem really confusing! I do still think if you got mostly As and Bs you have a good chance because in order to get they highest amount of points for GPA and pre-recs you need 3.75-4.0! Its so nerve-racking not knowing, and we still have 2 months to go

I was worried about my health care experience and language documents because they deviate a bit from the kind of documentation they request. I sent an email to Chico State's prenursing adviser and they told me that the documentation I submitted is acceptable, so assuming I didn't make any errors in my application, I will have 95 points.
I applied to Sac State as well! Though I think I will be wait listed from their program. I feel as though they have a less lenient point system compared to Chico. Chico provides more of a leeway for what you can have in terms of TEAS score and GPA because a score of 90+ on the TEAS and a GPA above 3.75 gives you all of the points for those point categories.

I understand, i am super obsessive as well! haha it's in our nature as prospective nursing student.s I would definitely contact Chico's Admission and Records for more information about intent enroll. I contacted them last round about it because nothing was showing up on my portal. I'm afraid that I can't help you with this. I am considered a postbaccalaureate candidate so this doesn't apply to me.
