CSU Chico Fall 2020

Published

Hey everyone! I am going to be applying for Chico's nursing program for Fall 2020. Just wondering how everyone's application process is going and what their point standing is as of right now. I am very nervous but hopeful!

I just got the same email, saying they are going to be offering seats May 1-15th. This is my first time applying, is this a pretty general email? Like did everyone who apply get this? Or only if you have certain points etc..? Just curious

I applied last round for Spring semester (my first time). I believe this is the e-mail for qualified applicants only, so ones with certain points. Their point cut off last round was at 93.25 and people with 93-86 were alternates. They were scrambling last minute, it was a huge mess. They miscalculated my points and I'm sure I wasn't the only one. I'm sure they miscalculated others as well. We didn't get notified until 12/16/19 and the semester started only weeks later. Most programs were notified in November.

I applied last semester with 88 points but they said I had 81.75 points so I didn't make the Alternate cut off. I was an emotional wreck and attempted to contact them many times and heard nothing back bc they were scrambling and it was so last minute. I'm applying this round with 91 points (re-did TEAs). I'm anticipating alternate status with 91 points. If they miscalculate again, I will go to them in person this time with all my documents to re-check.

Oh no!! What a mess. Is there a way to look at the exact verified points you have? Or is this just calculated on your own using their criteria?

I think that everyone got it because I received it and I applied on a whim with something like 79 points. I applied as a shot in the dark - pretty much guaranteed I won't get in.

This was calculated on my own, so I could've been off by a point or two but off by 6.25 is a bit excessive. I'm going to document point by point in each category, thoroughly cross the Ts and dot the Is, to physically show them this time in case this happens again. It may or may not work but I gotta try! haha

Im super scared something like this is going to happen to me as well! Chico is pretty much my only hope this semester and I'm already a semester behind so I don't want to be pushed back again. When did you find out they calculated 81.75 points for you? Was it on 12/16/19 when they finalized acceptances? Because that seems super late and doesn't allow for mistakes to occur. I wish they would send some sort of email confirming your points or post something in NursingCAS where you have to confirm the points they have calculated. All in all, it seems kind of disorganized. It is very unfair that you didn't even make the alternates list due to a mistake that wasn't your fault. Hopefully things are more organized this time around. Fingers crossed

I don't think so sadly. I tried making things super obvious in the documents section where you would attach forms for extra points. Like for the language points I titled the document "language points.pdf" and for volunteering I put "volunteer points.pdf" I hope that makes it obvious, because I think that is probably where the problems occur. I can't imagine that they would miscalculate GPA points and science grades with official transcripts. I am slightly nervous for the co-recs because I did AP psych in high school and to get the 1 point for that class I had to attach my AP scores, but I couldn't title it "co-rec points" so I'm worried they might miss it (It had to be uploaded under the "AP test scores" section). I think I'm stressing a little bit too much about everything but I hate not knowing, especially knowing that they messed up scorpiodez's points last semester by such a huge amount

Yes it was on 12/16/19. It was very last minute considering most schools gave their notices in November. I'm thinking positive and that it will be better this round since there is so much time between May and fall semester, as oppose to last round when these notices went out on 12/16/19 and the semester started in January. I went ahead and e-mailed them my self-evaluation calculator print out along with me calculating my points category by category so that this doesn't happen again. Turns out, I'm actually now at 92 points with my new Fall 2019 semester grades. ?

Thats a super good idea! Did you just email the school of nursing asking them to confirm your points and attach all the extra pages? I might try to do something like that so everything goes smoothly. What exactly did you email them? and how did they respond?

For some reason in my spare time I keep finding myself trying to do research and learn more about Chico's program. Ive read forums on this website for Chico going back to 2012, I've looked over the entire course catalog for Chico nursing, I've researched the clinical facilities and the simulation lab, and I went on to ratemyprofessor.com and looked at the reviews for all nursing professors at Chico. I've also gone through about 6 google pages looking for websites that will give me more information on the program... Im getting obsessive. ?? I just feel like I need to be doing something at all times. Ive also noticed on my Chico portal in the student center it says that I have been provisionally accepted to the school and that I have to accept or decline before May 1st. With the nursing applications coming out anywhere from the 1st-15th I'm not sure how we would do that. I saw on some past forums that there is somewhere to click saying that you get an extension on this because you're pre-nursing and waiting on your acceptance, but I'm not seeing that.

yes, I e-mailed over the weekend so I haven't heard back and I don't anticipate hearing back soon based on what I experienced last round. I'm thinking of mailing it out to them too. I just e-mailed them my self-evaluation print out and broke down each category piece by piece per NursingCAS to emphasize that I am at 92 points. If they miscalculate again, I will go down in person with all my documents.
