CSU Bakersfield

Published

Did anyone apply to CSU Bakersfield? I applied for the Spring 2010.

:imbar your words reassure me, but I must take that Test again to at least break 80%.

Oh and I guess all my pessimism stems from reading about another pre-nursing student who has not gotten accepted, in spite of a good g.p.a (about the same as mine) and a good test score (maybe 85%). And the person said it was to a Californian school that recently changed their program from 3 years to 2 years. That definitely startled me because the only school I know that has changed their program like that is csub.

By the way, that lady has returned to her office, so she can now answer questions. :yeah: I emailed her along time ago about TEAS because, and yes I was one of the 30% who did not take the exam. I put it off so many times because I was afraid of not breaking 70%.

If the whole 8 prerequisites is what brings you down, I looked at the fall program and they count all 12 prerequisites into your g.p.a. so maybe that a little good news for you??

Dang Atlyss! you did better than me. Well, for sure you're going to get in CSUB for the spring 2010 class! I hope I get in too. Then at least I'll know you and Sandra, if we all get in. How many points is that total for you?

I have an overall college 3.77, math-science 3.82, and prereq 3.81 with 2 prereqs in progress(physio and anatomy) and a cognate(humn devlpmnt) in progress. so that's 6 prereqs so far. I have not taken pathophys yet. my TEAS is an 80% first and last time, all I know is that gives me 11 pts. I recieve 5 pts too for CA residency, but I am not from the Bakersfield service area.

By the way, are you a first-time freshman, transfer student, post-baccalaurate, or grad student?

Well there's still room for me to slip up and fail in microbiology, which I hope does not happen. Oh and I'm a first time freshmen.

Sandraellen, Atlyss, and everyone else who applied for the Spring 2010 quarter. It seems as if the rankings that we've recieved have most of us thinking about many things... one of which will be the top 35 seats.

At this point, I'm in the program for sure. After the emails were sent, there was a warning at the end saying that if you're not from the Bakersfield area, are ranking high, but still need pathophys, then you need to be relocating. That sort of solidifed if I was in or not since I was high ranking and need to finish Bio 355 but don't live in Bakersfield.

Since my rank is... (I'll share it with you) #12 with the TEAS score of a flat 80%, and points total of 58, I'm definitely in. No need to worry anymore too because although I have 2 prereqs in progress, I have As in both. I'm in for good. Atlyss, it looks as if you're in too. YAY!:yeah::smokin::D:up:

Let's be friends Atlyss! I'm also a first time freshman, but I started at community college and will begin my studies as CSUB for the winter!

Sandraellen, where do you stand? How are things going on your end?

I am not in, knew I would not be. After looking at the chart I saw that I had not been given my 5 points for residency and I e-mailed the director. She said she would make sure those 5 points got added. With those 5 points I end up with 35 points. YOu can see where that lands me. There are two others that already have 35 points. So, unless the 5 without Teas scores do not turn them in, and a few others decide not to attend CSUB if, someone bombs their courses in progress and their GPA's go down...AND if CSUB decided to take 40................as you can see my chances are slim to none. I have already taken patho, so if t the last minute they have someone drop and want to replace them with someone who has already taken patho that woul dbe me....But I am happy for the two of you and hope you have a great time in nursing school at CSUB.

I just wanted to congratulate you girls on getting into the nursing program, that is beyond exciting!

I'm applying for Fall 2010 and I'm really nervous about where I stand. First off, I'm nervous about even getting into the University with all of the budget cut backs.

I haven't taken the TEAS yet, I'm going to take it next month and next semester I'm taking Micro, Organic/Bio Chem and Life Span development. Based on your point totals for Spring what do you think I would need for fall? I know you said there was less point totals right??

I'm not a female :anbd:. I'm a male.

Anyhow, I'm not sure how many points you have to earn for this new revised criteria. My application batch was the last to have the one with no interview and no adjusted points, so I cannot say for sure how much you have. the maximum points that my batch can have is somewhere between 80-85. the highest point that some applicants had were 80. I had 58, and my rank was 12. there were only 65 of us who applied for the spring total because of the budget cuts which closed the school for application. normally, there are about 200-250+ applicants who apply but our 65 was the result of the budget cuts. CSUB accepts only 35. sometimes they'll take up to 40 if people opt out. everyone else are put on a waitlist for a short while and then are removed.

What I can recommend for you is GPA. GPA is the most crucial part for the application. The secondary criteria is good too, but not as important, since they only determine if you tied points with someone. I didn't tie points, so no one scored a 58 as well like me, and my secondary criteria material didn't count. GPA(all types: prereq, math/science, what have you...), the interview, CA residency, and local residency counts mostly!

Thank Goodness!!!

I'm really excited and I can't wait to go back to school in Bakersfield. Lately I've been taking my last prereq at a community college 1 hour away from where I live, and the drive is just horrendous. I'm a little AGH about that class because I'm tinkering between a low A and a high B. Sooo wish me luck to miss only about 32 questions out of 200 in a cumulative final this coming Tuesday....hahaaaah..boo.

Anyways just as it was said before it all depends on g.p.a. Strive to do well in your math/ science classes!!! Oh and TEAS! If you have a pretty average g.p.a don't settle for a barely passing TEAS score.

@ solidus

I can't seem to reply on my profile to your messages. I think it's because I haven't posted 15+ on the all nurses forum.

But anyways I already took patho in the summer. I managed to get a B!!! From my personal experience that class was tough. Basically 3 months worth of material was stuffed into about 1 and half month period. Other then that, it was an interesting class. I'd take it again, but I want to finish some upper gen eds.

@solidus

Yeah that should be fine. I'm taking two themes, gre, and ????? iono what the other one is ...haha... maybe I'll add something for a minor.. yep 2nd year @ csub minus the fall, but include the summer. Anyway's Woo hoo we're awesome getting over all these things in a short amount of time!:yeah:

About that call you got...I didn't get a CALL???? All I ever received was an email about our ranking.

By the way can I have your email???

So, are you guys getting calls from the pre-nursing advisor about whether you plan on attending CSUB?

I'm attending for winter quarter all the way

If any of you are taking some GE courses, let me know, I may be in your classes. I'm also taking pathophys.

hmm, other than that, I'm an outsider, I know nothing about Bakersfield, other than the fact that I'm going to go to nursing school there.
