Did anyone apply to CSU Bakersfield? I applied for the Spring 2010.

I think that is it for now I am just so nervous. Applications for fall are soon and I am very scared!

elacer08, Have you applied to CSUB yet? I think I saw on their site that they are taking applications for your turn. Is CSUB your first choice?

Hey I don't think they open until Oct 20th right? CSUB Is pretty high up there for me have you heard anything back from them?

Yea, I applied to 2 so far. Just CSUB and Humboldt, both for spring 2010 entry. Jeez the wait is torturous, but I am positive and hopeful:wink2:. I'm half way done with my school apps. I have 2 more to go this oct 1st, SFSU and Fresno for fall 2010 entry. I don't think I'll be applying to any schools south of Bakersfield. That's how far south I'll go. But it'd be great if we both ended up in the same school. Then at least I'll know someone.

Have you applied to any schools or are able to apply anywhere? how's your end of the line doing?

I am sure the wait is horrible. I think schools do this on purpose it makes you value it so much more :] I am so glad you are hopeful. As for me I am still iffy I really want to get in but who knows. Everyone I talk to has a 3.9 so I am kind of scared. It would be great if we went to the same school we would be able to help each other out! I have not applied anywhere yet, I only printed out the app for csula other then that I have to wait till oct 1st when most of the apps are out. I am so nervous!

are you talking about people with a 3.9 who applied to csub for the spring 2010 class like me, or is it something else? if so, then i am scared.... where are these people applying to?

anyways, i recieved these emails from csub's nursing dept. i thought it might give you a little insight.

yes, we a planning a spring class

applicants to the spring 2010 nursing class:

some of you may have noticed that the preadmission nursing website has been updated for fall 2010. this does not mean that we are not planning a spring 2010 class. at this time, given the budget we have, we do plan to offer a new class in the spring. just want to clear up any rumors before they get out of hand.

here are some answers to questions you might have.

1. how many seats do we think we might have available in the spring? "think" and "might" are the key words here....maybe 35-40

2. when will students be accepted? i hope to have the conditional and final acceptances out right before christmas. top ranked students that have already completed pathophysiology will receive final acceptances. those that need to complete patho in the winter will receive a conditional acceptance.

3. how many viable applicants are there for the spring class? 69

4. can i find out where i stand in the ranking now? no. approximately 30% of the applicants have not taken teas yet. i will be emailing out where everyone stands in mid november when most of the scores are in. also, the standings will not be 100% as it will continue to change until everyone completes the prerequisites. i will not be naming names but rather identifying you by the last 4 digits of your student id.

that's the end. so in my application batch, there were only a total of 69 applicants as opposed some schools with 1000+.

I was referring to SDSU a student says they got a 3.9 but did not make it in. I am not to sure what to think at this point. Nursing is getting harder by the day but I think you will get in I sure hope so too. Thanks so much for the insight its good to hear Spring 2010 is "open" As for applicants there are only 69 which gives you a pretty high chance. I really hope you get in. I am not sure if you heard but I looked at the new fall 2010 stats and requirements it now says there will be interviews wirth 15 points. I am not to sure what to think about this? Any ideas or thoughts?

Yes, I read about the interview requirement on their website. It's relatively new, and the first will begin fresh for the fall 2010 applicants. I blame myself partly for this reason to happen. Since I was the first person to speak with the nursing dept. admissions one-on-one face-to-face to see where I standed, and recieve information about their program, I think they liked the idea of having to know their future students more.

I say GO FOR IT! Apply for CSUB and you will not regret that you did. the program is 21 months long for BSN-RN fresh grad, and is less than 2 years so you'll be out of college soon and working. other schools have 2-3 years of nursing curriculum(which makes CSUB my number 1 school). The admissions people are not bad nor scary. They are nice, smart, organized, professional, and eager to help you (from my personal experience, they want you to get in and help you become successful). You've got nothing to lose if you apply. The worse they can do is say you've been rejected. There's nothing bad with that, unless you've only applied to that school. It took me heavy sacrifices to get to what I want(even living in Gilroy which is 3 hours away), and if it means going through a "scary-sounding" interview, then by all means I shall go for it. Take it as an honor to be one of the chosen few to be interviewed, because that means all the other applicants who weren't interviewed didn't make it while you still have the running chance. Have you ever been in a job interview before? Just be honest, and be yourself. If you don't know something about a question, then be honest to them, and admit you don't know. If they want to know your weaknesses, then tell them, I'd say I get too emotionally attached to patient's problems that it turns up to my own, or sometimes I think more of other people so much that I forget about myself sometimes, and etc.... If you make it to CSUB, at least we can both help each other out:cool:. I am looking forward for that conditional acceptance for spring 2010. That also means that 30 percent have not taken TEAS yet by november. that's about 20 people off the batch if they continue not to take it. If they don't take the TEAS, then my chances will even be more reduced. And yes, I am taking advantage of this insipidly sweet opportunity that the CSU budget cuts have done by limiting the amount of applicants to 69 in closing the applications. Past years have had 200-250 applicants. Do well on those 12(13) prereqs but do better on those 8 golden prereqs. it's the prereq grades and GPA that play the BIG ROLE in your acceptance. nothing much too. I somewhat feel confident that I got accepted conditionally. After speaking with the admissions person to see my rank in private, I got the general feel that if I continue to do a good job, then I'm in for good. My rank number at that time was above the 35 cut off, maybe between 14-21. the lowest GPA I saw was at least a 3.2-3.3. My GPA was a 3.8.

my advice, apply to CSUB. lots of people think I'm crazy or stupid for intending to go to that school, but they overlook the precious opportunity that awaits for me there. CSUB is a nice school to my opinion, and I personally like simple and quite schools with less students, all isolated to get away from future problems. in the end, it doesn't really matter where you go to nursing school, whether community college or Ivy league. It all matters where you end with success.

I agree with you 100%. People think I am a bit odd for going all the way out there but I think CSUB has so much to offer. The best thing is that it is 21 months and I can get experience in the field while others have not graduated yet. I am so nervous about even getting an interview spot. To be honest I think the applicants for Fall 2010 will be much much more then Spring. I do not even know what to think at this point. I am just going to give it me all and hope that I make it into this school! Thanks for all the help and support I really hope you get that conditional acceptance you truly deserve it.

Hey Solidus_Snake

Do you think you can help me out. I am feeling very discouraged right now because I just took the Teas this past weekend and got a 74%. That is very low and now I am feeling like Bakersfield wont take me. I studied exactly what was in the ATI book along with other stuff people said. I literally did not get one ROCK or biosphere question. I got all this weird charts and pie graphs that made no sense. I am also horrible in math and didnt undertand what 1/500:1/25 x= what meant I don't know what they are asking for? Any advice:cry::bluecry1:
