CSU Bakersfield

Did anyone apply to CSU Bakersfield? I applied for the Spring 2010.

I am planning to apply for Fall 2010. I think that you might want to look into an accelerated program and I am not sure of Bakersfield has one. Many of my friends who have B.A. in many other fields and are now doing nursing as well. They are doing a one year or a little more then one year nursing program at other cal states as well. If you have the pre rec required to get into the program you should be fine. Can you tell me how the area and how it is down there. I currently live 2 hours from there so I do not know the area markets, malls, gas prices any insight would be great thanks

It's very diff. from Los Angeles. Gas is about .20 cheaper. I love all the peach fields tough. By the way, I just learned they don't have an accelerated program. I still like to go there because I live nearby. I've worked as a sub. teacher: with the economy I don't think i'll be able to sub. next year.

I read that CSUB might push the Spring 2010 to Fall. I want to apply to the Fall 2010 and keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the info. From what I hear they want to keep it separate but who knows. With this economy I am not to sure. Which program are you planning to apply for then if there is no accelerated program?

I still am waiting for my acceptance to the spring 2010 class or not.... ughhh!!! the wait is killing me! Or if there even is going to be a spring 2010 class. I do know that if there isn't any, then all applications of the spring 2010 class will join with fall 2010 class applicants too. So either way, I guess I'm still in the running... to be america's next top model... not. haha. good luck for those applying!

by the way, I don't live in the So Cal area at all so I don't know anything about the area that much. But CSUB is my 1st choice and I really want to get in for the Spring 2010. I here rent there is pretty good too compared to here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

If I could get in the BSN. I'm applying to everything. I don't want to be unemployed forever. I always wanted to be an rn, but back when I was out of high school my dad lost his job.

I had to get a full-time job to support them. I was able to get a medical assistant certificate, but once i got a B.A. I was making $40.00/hr. as a sub. teacher with the rn pre-reqs I was able to stay long-term in a Science & health class. I don't have a teaching cred., so they can't keep me long-term anymore with the economy:(

Now I'm back at retaking all the pre-reqs

hey did anyone try computing their score to see what they would get out of the 85 points? I am at a 70 I do not know if that is good enough :crying2:

WOW!!! That's higher than mine! I estimated that I am about 60-65. I don't think I can get higher than that. Are you going to finish your prerequisites or have you already finished them? Also, did you score high on the TEAS? I took the TEAS only once and I got an 80. I don't plan on taking the TEAS again. My GPA is a 3.8.... and my other math/science GPA is at least a 3.8... too. I didn't recieve any points for being disadvantaged economically nor educationally as well as military veteran nor living in the Bakersfield service area. I wonder what are the statistics for the Spring 2010 applicants?

Applications for CSUB nursing are closed now. All we can do, for those who applied to the spring 2010 class, is go through the distressing waiting period.

Anyone else applied for spring 2010?

You gpa seems so high how can you be only from 60-65? My pre rec is only 3.73. I have not taken the TEAS yet I am taking it at the end of this month. Any suggestions :]? Well was 80 your overall score? I still have two pre recs but not science like nutrition and philosophy at my school. My volunteert points will not come in handy unless it becomes a tie between a few students.

Wait! The only prereqs I thought they counted for the prereq GPA was anatomy, physio, micro, chem, stats, eng, comm, and critical thinking... not including nutrition, psych...et al. because if they do count them, then my GPA will be higher. my prereq GPA is a 3.8+ and my overall is a 3.7+. have you finished anatomy, physio, and micro? I still have 3 prereqs left and I'm taking them all in the Fall. they are anatomy, physio, and life-span development. the lowest grade I have for my prereqs was a B+ in stats, everything so far are all A- and A. same here for my volunteer points too. well, actually I think I'll only have about 58 points out of 85, i miscalculated. my secondary points wont help me unless i tie. i have only volunteer points and not everything else under secondary criteria. Maybe the reason why you are high is because you havent taken the TEAS yet or maybe because you have disadvantage points somewhere. I took my TEAS on May 9th. I never studied before but I relied heavily on my high school knowledge. watch out for the English and Reading sections. I thought the math and science were pretty easy. you'll be surprised once you find out your score, i know i was and it wasnt what i expected. but watch out though. you can retake the TEAS many times but they will use only the recent score. that's why I'm not going to take the TEAS anymore... I'm scared i might make lower than a 70 or lower than my 80. good luck though.

Yea there are 8 pre recs, but I guess they listed nutrition down as well with the psychology as something they will look at? I got an A in phyio and micro, but a C in anatomy and that is why I am so scared I will not make it in. At my school I have taken chem 101 which bakersfield will take I have a B but the chem they really want is chem 51 at my school which is lower then 101 and I am really expecting to get an A. After I calculated my grades for the 8 classes I have a 3.73 I believe. I must have miscalculated I got like 70. I need to check on that. I am so nervous for the Teas test. I thought english and reading wouldn't be so bad can you tell me some stuff you remember? Why was it bad? I am really nervous for math and science. I just hate word problems and all the formulas you have to remember for a circle or square is that on there? You are really rhe first person that said science is easy, but I hear there is no anatomy and physio? Am I correct? Wjat did they have for science? Thanks !
