CSN Spring 2016

Published

I know it's incredibly early, there's not even a board for Fall 2015 and their applications are due in 2 months, but I can't wait.

Is there anyone else here planning on applying for the Spring 2016 program?

I'm taking Biology 223 and 251 this semester. I'm also taking my TEAS on the 17th so I have time to take it more than once if need be. I figure I'll have 31 or 32 points. Everything except Biology 224 (which I'll be taking during the fall 15 semester) and previous medical experience, since massage therapy doesn't count.

I'm just curious if any of my potential future classmates are here already, reading up on things like I am.

How long will the extended track last? is it 3 yrs instead of 2? I'm thinking of doing that so I can still work as well, so I'm not juggling too much classes, but I'll see by the time I'm ready to apply.. Still taking my prereqs and wil prolly apply by late 2016 for 2017 track..

Do u have any reasons why U chose the extended track?

Extended track graduates only one semester behind full time track but does not get summers off. Everyone is full time first semester but after that extended track only takes one course a semester whereas full time takes two. Each course consist of lecture, lab, and clinical. So if you need to still work full time or need a more flexible schedule and don't mind going to school year around then extended track works best. All my friends that are extended track are way less stressed than those of us that are full time LOL. But extended track also requires a good amount of points in order to get in.....Like within 4-5 points of the max I believe.

I chose extended track because unfortunately I have to work full time. Plus I'm hoping that maybe it'll be a little less stressful than full time. I know first semester will be rough cause it's full time but hopefully I can do it. I've been in the medical field for 18 yrs so I'm hoping all that experience helps. lol Good luck.

Are you already on the Extended Track program already? How competitive is it to be in there? and I bet it will be so much harder because the seats are limited to 24 I think...

I start in Jan. I thought it was going to be hard to get in but I guess I got lucky. I don't know for sure but I think there were less than 24 picked plus I only had 36 points and GPA is only about 2.9 so don't give up it is possible.

Wow! thank you for being honest! and evn telling me ur gpa.. I thought those people were like 4.0 or stuff, my friend even told me she got on the regular.

Sorry I got confused, did you mentioned that you are starting on Jan!? So does that mean ur on regular Spring track? or they have Extended track on JAN start as well? i'm sorry I got confused...

If ur gpa is only 2.9 then it means u completed most of the prereqs to get higher points? Do u mind sharing what were ur points for? thak you ☺️

I start in Jan but it's full time for the 1st semester even if

you're in the extended track. As far as prereq's I took everything including math 120 and bio 251 so that helped my points. I know my GPA is low and I thought that would end up hurting me but thank God I finally got in. I heard so many horror stories about points and GPA so I wanted to be honest so others realize there's still hope.

Thank you so much for your help. Yes Being honest here in the thread help the students to really know how it goes. That was my idea as well, because I want to do all my prereqs so I can just concentrate on nursing alone and have the points system higher and get the chance of getting in better. The Biol classes actually helps that points for 10 points that why I'm trying to get those classes done and have better chance of the getting better score.

Thats the first reason why I stir away from CSN for nursing program coz of the stories of how VERY DIFFICULT to get in, and my friend even told me its not, even the health advisor I attended the orientation yesterday said, RN right now at csn, isnt that competitive like PTA, Sonography..

But of course u would want to rack as much points as you can.. And thats what I'm going to do

The only thing your points and GPA are good for is entry into the program. I entered with a 3.3ish (3.4, just looked at my papers) GPA and 38 points. It means nothing when choosing your class schedules or anything else. So as long as you have 30+ points and the minimum grades, you're in. But for part time, you'll need more than 30. I've heard 36+.

It probably makes a difference in continuing education. But literally any college will pick you up to finish a BSN program if that's the route you want to go.

Glad I could help, I know I was always so stressed and worried and these threads and all the people on here made feel better. I've wanted to give up so many times. ViperJustin has been really helpful since he's a semester ahead, now I know what to expect.

Kaybay_jenae, ViperJustin, and any others currently in or have been in the program,

What would you say are the classes that you studied for from most to least? I understand that it might be more or less for certain classes during the semester and also might vary by person, but just trying to get a semi-schedule going for myself.

Thank you!!

Fundamentals was probably the easiest IMO and it really only gets worse lol but it's doable if you stay organized and don't fall behind on the readings.
