I know it's incredibly early, there's not even a board for Fall 2015 and their applications are due in 2 months, but I can't wait.
Is there anyone else here planning on applying for the Spring 2016 program?
I'm taking Biology 223 and 251 this semester. I'm also taking my TEAS on the 17th so I have time to take it more than once if need be. I figure I'll have 31 or 32 points. Everything except Biology 224 (which I'll be taking during the fall 15 semester) and previous medical experience, since massage therapy doesn't count.
I'm just curious if any of my potential future classmates are here already, reading up on things like I am.
All of the biology classes are memorization. These classes and tests are critical thinking. You HAVE to be able to think outside the box. For some people, that can be very difficult.
But overall, just study 40+ hours a week and you'll be good to go. Remember, this is a full time job.
Hope this helps.
Hi, I'm new here but I've been following this thread. I applied for Spring 2016 extended-track. Does anyone know how many have applied for that and what the cut off points are? Also, this toolbox class, does anyone know when you can sign up? I heard you have to be accepted first. Is it a short course? Good luck to everyone, this waiting is torture!

Toolbox can actually be taking by anyone so it's a first come first serve basis. You can register for the course when registration for Spring opens up. I took the course during winter semester last year. It's two weeks end of December, beginning of January time frame....good luck on getting accepted. It's definitely hard but well worth it. Just stay organized and have a weekly schedule for homework and studying ;-)
Just off the top of my head:
-Extra set of white uniforms in case it gets dirty. You WILL be cleaning up poop and showering/bathing patients.
-Extra set (or three) of name tags. Have them made up as soon as you find out you're accepted. It can take a couple weeks for them to be made.
-BP cuff
-Thermometer (doesn't matter what kind)
-Small writing pad to jot notes down for Patients you may see that you don't have papers for.
Something I've learned NOT to trust, is the CSN Writing Center. Do NOT use them to have your papers checked for APA format. They stink! A guy told me mine looked perfect, but when I handed in the 25 page paper to the instructor, it was not to THE INSTRUCTOR'S APA format. Just take it to your instructor and have them look at your papers.
Do NOT get behind. It's a brutal uphill battle if you get behind. You NEED at LEAST 30-40 hours a week to study. If you're a procrastinator, you'll fail. I've already seen some students fail out. Make sure your math is good to go. It's not difficult at all in the first semester. But again, people have failed out because they didn't get tutored or study.
