op,

you said it is your first semester of nursing school? there can be many many reasons for getting a "c" in your first semester. you are making the adjustment from the learning style of high school to the one

in college. professors and instructors treat their students far differently than hs faculty does, and that knocks some first-time college students off guard sometimes. you don't get all the reminders you

got in high school and many professors feel reviewing the material shouldn't be necessary. welcome to college!

students usually adjust after their first semester. you'll be fine!

I am about to get an 84.75% in a class (unless a miracle happens and I get the half a point I will need on one last thing but isn't likely) and that will put me 0.25 shy of the B. It is so frustrating. Another C I got was an 84.4 :|

It sucks. but what can you do but try a little harder next time.

Hiring managers are typically interested in your license being clear and your work experience, in that order. Only in very competitive situations do grades and such ever come into play, and you will know that going in. Since that is always a possibility, try to get as many As as possible in school. Good luck.

My school does not view C grades as passing, let alone continuing.

What is the grade scale in your school?

It seems like you aren't complacent with getting a C and that is what I think is the most importnat thing. A lot of higher degrees will require a 3.0 or higher GPA (not sure what degree you are at now) but there was a handful of students in my class that had the C=degree attitude, they didn't care what they got on anything as long as it was the 77% we were required to get, if they got that, then they were happy and complacent. ALL of them are gone now. They teetered around that mentality and got to the final with a very very little margin, then that had them all stressed out and they didn't pass.

While C's can happen and I wouldn't let it ruin more then a few hours of my day, ok or maybe day, I also wouldn't think "who cares as long as it's the minimum". It doesn't seem like you are doing that at all so I think you will be fine.

Thank for the responses!

Some of the people I went to school with had quite a few Cs and had no problems getting a job.
