  1. Just wanted to suggest first, don't believe everything you hear and second, maybe speak to a nursing advisor who can give you correct advice? And I am an advanced hater of math, and math was super easy in nursing school. It is very basic and you will probably learn to do it in your head. Maybe Google some examples? And my third and final piece of advice, don't let anyone deter you from what you truly want to do...if nursing is something you really want, then go for it! Good luck!
  2. So one of life's great lessons here: "You cannot control the actions of others". Being that you are very young, and I was once too:woot:, you need to understand that you are only responsible for yourself. There is a possibility for everyone that they may change their career path once or many times...I know I did! Focus on yourself and what you need to do to become successful in this world. There are a lot of obstacles out there without being worried about your friend's career choices. Best wishes in nursing school!
  3. I calculated my wait this same way and it is the same...about 3.5 semesters. Thanks for the info!! It makes me feel better knowing that you calculated the same way I did and got the same answer! Thanks a lot!
  4. WOW. Where do you get your info from? It's an interesting theory, just wondering if it is based on fact. Thanks.
  5. I kind of feel the same way you do so being in a similar situation I think you may like being a school nurse, working in a clinic or being a clinical nurse. These jobs usually offer a more traditional (9-ish to 5-ish) work schedule than a hospital schedule. Be sure to check out all of your options before you give up completely on something you worked so hard to achieve!! Best of luck to you!
  6. Really?!? Good to know. I will definitely check that out!! FREE is awesome when you are in school!!
  7. I work in a pharmacy and have run into "dumb nurses" and "Dumb doctors" too. You have to understand that a pharmacist has their license on the line, they have a job to do too.
  8. Half.com is really great too. Check them out!! I have gotten several books there at awesome discounts. A little trick is to watch the prices, they get higher the closer you get to the beginning of the semester because people are buying them and there are fewer available. Try to get them at the end of the previous semester when there are a lot of people trying to get rid of theirs! Oops...I just told the world my trick Best of luck in school!
  9. i'm hoping! i'm just basing it off of the class that is going in in spring 2011; they will have waited about a year and a half and so i am hoping that will be the same for our date/time stamp as well. i am just planning on taking a few classes toward by bsn in the meantime. happy waiting!! :)
  10. :redpinkhe:D:confused:
  11. My date/time stamp is 10/8/10 8:00:42 so I'm in the same boat!! I applied to Glendale CC and the advisor told me the wait is about 3 to 4 semesters. Because people are getting in to the spring semester with date/time stamps of June 09 I am hoping we will get in to the spring 2012 class. Best of luck to everyone!! I hope everyone will continue to post on this thread so we can see where we are!! Anticipation is a killer!!! Just out of curiosity, which school did you apply at?
  12. Sometimes I wonder if yahoo is being paid to throw these little ads out there by someone who can gain financially from it, like "for profit" schools. Just a thought!
  13. I took the Hesi yesterday and it wasn't bad at all. You were right though, no temperature conversions but I memorized the formulas just in case. I would rather be overprepared than under prepared. Thanks to everyone for their tips! I studied the Hesi Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam Review and I thought it was very helpful! I got a 94% for math and 93% for English. It wasn't hard at all. Thanks again everyone! Best of luck!! :)
  14. If you are very interested in familiarizing yourself with common drugs I would recommend getting at PDR Pocket guide to prescription drugs. They are inexpensive (check Amazon or half.com) and could prove more helpful later on. Also, sometimes drug names can give a hint to what the medication is used for treating. This website may be helpful too! http://www.pharmacy-tech-study.com/index.html Especially the "drug suffix" tab on the left. This will better explain how the name of a medication can also tell you what its indication is. I hope this helps!
  15. Do you know what the purpose is in taking it every semester? I assume just to see what you have retained?
