I got a C in one of my first semester classes due to one freakin test. How are C's seen out there by hiring managers and such. Thank you.

To answer your question...NO it won't affect anyone hiring you as an RN

As my professors excitedly told my class, C's mean Continue. No use worrying about it, nursing school is quite difficult. Hiring people don't look at your grades/GPA unless you're trying to get into a residency program, than it might be an issue. Otherwise, no worries!

Hiring managers will likely never see your transcript. FERPA (sort of like Hipaa.....but for education) does not allow anyone to see it (outside of the school, of course) without your permission.

My local hospital are only hiring new grads with a 3.0 or higher. However, I'm not sure if that's nursing GPA, or cummulative GPA. I heard that some hospitals are only hiring new grads with a minimum of 3.5. I would try and get an A or two in future nursing classes.
Oh, I got A's in my other two classes, I just hate getting anything lower than a B.

Don't beat yourself up over it, but do try to keep your GPA up because it's not unlikely that you will have to send out your transcripts. I've had too. Hospitals are able to be super picky with the economy the way it is.

It was my experience that more employers were looking at GPA's when I graduated (Dec. 09). I think it has something to do with the job market. But, either way...it's done now. Just move forward. No sense dwelling on something that is done and over. If your program offers it, take advantage of any extra credit opportunities, even if the points seem negligable. You just never know when you are going to have a tricky test. Good luck to you!

This is exactly what we are told in my current RN program, that a C = continue. I wouldn't stress over getting a C here and there. Nursing school is not easy and you should be proud that you are making it through. Even if some employers look at your GPA, I doubt the majority do. At least that has been my experience with LPN jobs. I guess I will find out about the RN jobs once I graduate! LOL But don't let it get you down.

I don't think you getting one C will kill you. Of course in my nursing program a C is failing lol.
The only person that will look at your grades is if you are doing an internship, externship or new grad programs. The only thing a hospital might see is your GPA and that's only if you put it on your resume which most people don't do unless they have a 3.5 or higher.
If your school has no problem with it, then I say it's all good.
