CRNE 7th october

Published

Hello,

I'm new to this site but am finding it really useful! I'm canadian but did my nursing degree in the UK, and I currently practicing in England. I'm due to sit the CRNE on the 7th October and have read some scary posts on its level of difficulty. I have the study guides and will continue to study for the next 8 weeks until I fly over to toronto to sit it. I'm extremely nervous....anybody got any further pointers for me????

I can't wait for my family to start our life in Canada pending me passing this exam (so no pressure Eh!)......and a new job in toronto would be great!!!!!

Good luck to all of those that are sitting it the same day as me!:nurse:

Hello everyone, fingers crossed for those who still keep on waiting for their results.

Well, just for information my friend here in BC failed and his score was 137. The letter said that he's 5 points down and that means the passing score would be 142, excluding maybe the experimental questions.

can anyone remember how many questions there were...i'm thinking 180 in total?

I'm not sure if the number of items are the same all over the provinces. Both book 1 & 2 has 149 questions. I took CRNE here in BC.

my brain was scrambled by the end - can't remember but I thought about 300 questions that counted.

sorry i meant to type 280

I was sitting next to a Canadian nurse who was writing for the third time - that's got to be stressful waiting for results now. Really felt for her.

I'm 101% sure that it's 298 items in total. That's my habit to go over how long the test would be whenever I'm taking exams since student to manage my time..:specs:

Petgroomer I do find it a little strange that the results are dished out at different time to different provinces....i mean we all sat the same exam....at the same time.....so how fair is letting the results be staggered....not fair I would say...especially for those whose jobs depend on it!

You can blame Canada Post for some of that. The results are mailed to all of the Colleges at the same time. How many times each package is handled depends on how many postal substations it passes through before it gets to its destination. I've seen it take a week for something to go from my home in a suburb of Edmonton to an address a 20 minute drive away (having gone through two substations and one main post office), and I've seen it take less than 2 days for something to go from Winnipeg to Montreal (one substation and one main post office).

Another HUGE factor is the number of results each College handles. Ontario is the most populous province and thus can be expected to have the greatest number of people writing and the greatest number or results to examine, document, collate and send out. The speed of all of this depends on how many people they employ to do the work. Where does the money to pay these people come from? All those fees they charge applicants. Ontario charges some of the lowest fees in Canada... do the math.
