Hello,
I'm new to this site but am finding it really useful! I'm canadian but did my nursing degree in the UK, and I currently practicing in England. I'm due to sit the CRNE on the 7th October and have read some scary posts on its level of difficulty. I have the study guides and will continue to study for the next 8 weeks until I fly over to toronto to sit it. I'm extremely nervous....anybody got any further pointers for me????
I can't wait for my family to start our life in Canada pending me passing this exam (so no pressure Eh!)......and a new job in toronto would be great!!!!!
Good luck to all of those that are sitting it the same day as me!
Hello everyone,Congratz to all that have passed. Hoping the same goes for me. Has anyone gotten their results in ONTARIO??
Hello everyone,
I'm very glad to hear the good news for those who have received the results and passed the exam, Congratulations!!. For those who didn't please don't be discouraged, just remain calm and work on strengthening your weaknesses for the next one. Remember that if you graduated you do have the knowledge. I'm also from Ontario and from what I've heard CNO takes the longest to submit the results. Those who took the exam this past June started receiving the results in 7 weeks.
Good luck to everyone and hope you guys all succeed!
I'm sure it won't be long now for everyone whose waiting & heres hoping everyone gets through. I live in Yorkshire, wrote the exam in Toronto and received my results from BC. Really surprised since I seemed to be one of the last to receive notification of writing the exam in Oct & now one of the first to receive results??. Congratulations to everyone who's passed. To those who haven't passed, don't loose heart - you'll be much better prepared next time knowing what to expect.
To those of you who are writing in Feb I went about learning for the exam a little differently than most posts offering advise. I spent most of my time going through textbooks( I qualified in 87) and went through "Medical - surgical nursing and related Physiology" (Watson), A good proportion of the questions are related to this
also I used these good text books which I got from the library. These don't take long to get through but were invaluable for refreshing knowledge
Medical - surgical nursing made Incredibly easy
Dosage calculations made Incredibly easy
Nursing pharmacology made Incredibly easy
Maternal - Neonatal nursing made Incredibly easy
ABC of Mental Health Second Edition (BMJ Books) - this was excellent and sucinct.
Having used 2 prep guides to guage questions I found these are helpful as I had no experience of working in Canada or doing Canadian study courses. I think you have an advantage if you've worked in the Canadian system and been mentored for quite a few questions but if you understand basics and principals of nursing you won't go far wrong. For each question I tried to think of a patient I knew that had that condition and applied what I would do.
Good luck to all!!
Well Done soetpeel...I'm rather envious that you have your results....considering I too am also in Yorkshire and took the exam in Toronto....although I am registered through ontario.....
I'm just going to remain calm...patient and positive....Well Done and good luck with your career in Canada!
Everyone else who ids waiting.....won't be long now!!!!
Haven't looked recently as not sure I would pass - I found the exam was very Canadianised and hadn't a clue with some questions. Will start looking shortly - not sure how much there is in the community nursing setting. You will be in demand with area I'm sure.
WEll I hope but will have to see......really scary but exciting at the same time....Still got my fingers crossed !!!

And that's why it's the Canadian RN exam. It's about nursing knowledge in a Canadian setting.
