Anyone started to prepare for CRNE June 2012?
Thanks for the update. Did you speak to anyone there?
yes, called CNO yesterday afternoon and the best update they could give me was by the end of this week they will be mailed out, another person who called got the same update as me. Strange that you called today and some lady said she doesn't know? But yeah looks like we'll at least get it by next week in Ontario since it will be the 6 week mark..

Why are you so surprised that not every single person in an organization the size of CNO would know every single thing going on in the building? Maybe the person who answered the phone was just covering for the receptionist who had to go to the bathroom, someone who usually works in the research department or the executive office. I would guess that 75% of the employees at CNO won't know anything about a specific sitting's CRNE results. The CRNE isn't the only responsibility that CNO or any College of Registered Nurses has, or even the biggest responsibility. I know that shocks many of you, but the primary purpose of the colleges is self-regulation of the profession and the secondary purpose is protection of the public. Self-regulation includes registration and by extension the CRNE, but it also includes monitoring registrations of long-term members, monitoring continuing competence, monitoring compliance with the Health Professions Act by the membership as a whole and the members as individuals, conducting investigations into complaints of unskilled or unprofessional practice, disciplinary hearings, tonnes of documentation, assessment of thousands of applications annually and a myriad of other elements. And guess what... most of the people employed there have more urgent matters to attend to than answering a dozen phone calls a day asking when the results will be out. I understand that the wait is frustrating and nerve-wracking (I've been there and so has every other registered nurse in the country), but bombarding the receptionist with phone calls isn't going to make it any shorter.
@janfrn, I was only making a simple observation through my last post, I'm not as surprised as you assumed. I'm well aware of the other responsibilities of the CNO, and I only made one phone call, I wasn't bombarding the receptionist. Perhaps the receptionist did go to the washroom and was being covered, who knows? Thanks for the reply, hope others will read it too.
I think what people forget is the CNO covers a large province with a lot of nursing students just qualifying. June is one of the biggest groups for people to sit CRNE and probably only a couple post here that they have rung when in reality there may have been numerous phone calls from people asking about the results being mailed
We are all professionals and understand how these organisations work. Lets be supportive, as for some of us the mail will not bring the answer we want, and we will be back here again in 4 months.
Actually, you are not a professional until you have your registration in hand. There are many who post here who truly do not understand how the Colleges work. I don't see how my response was unsupportive by merely providing some context to the subject. These same questions and comments are posted in the days and weeks following every single sitting of the CRNE. There will be those who will not receive the long-hoped-for positive result, just as there always is, and I too will be here again in four months explaining it all over to a new group of examinees. It's my job.
It does make a lot of sense that Ontario would be the last to get results as I am sure we have the highest number in writers. It makes sense that they are taking longer to get those results in comparison to other provinces, but I mean it would have been nice if they could have waitied and tried to mail out all province marks roughly around the same time instead of some having had results almost a week ago. Good luck to all of us still waiting for results.

In defense to the person that used the word "professional". I would just like to menton that I don't feel that by anyway are they describing themselves as being professional that were meant in terms of being a "nurse". By being professional you have reasonable work morale and motivation. Having interest and desire to do a job well as holding positive attitude towards the profession are important elements in attaining a high level of professionalism.
Does not just include nursing.
Registration has nothing to do with a persons professionalism.

I second that.
In fact some of the nurses who are waiting for the CRNE results have had more than 10years of experience as nurses in other countries. Some even may have been administrators in the hospitals. With that being said, I think it's not right to say that they/we are not professional just because they still don't have registration here in Canada.
Let's just be sensitive with everybody's feelings. And be considerate at least, coz we all know everybody has high level of anxiety at this moment and we can't blame them if they're dying to know when the results are gonna be mailed out.

Not surprised, why is it so hard to say when they will be mailed, especially when they know that RNs from other Provinces have received their as early as 6 days ago. Waiting is my new adopted name, I wonder why. Lets hope when they do mail them they get to us in a timely manner whatever the news, fingers crossed!
