i want to share with you guys the email that i received from crnbc. it goes... we expect to mail the results by the middle of next week. you should receive them by the week of november 17.
rendu_calvin, do you think this would be the same for everyone across canada? for example, i'm from ontario. thanks for the info!
We all knew before we even took the exam that the results take a while, they tell you so on the website, so why is it such a surprise to everyone? It takes longer because it's a paper & pencil excercise, because everyone takes it on the same day & because they have to weight it properly to ensure the pass mark is right across the board. They can take all the time they need to - as long as I passed:D
Well, I think most of people who wrote the exam knew that it would take about 6-8 weeks, but they are just commenting how long it takes. More of expressing the frustration? Because it is a long waiting period...

I called CNO on Nov. 7th, and they said they do not know the date at all. Not even approximate date. But I think they will send out the mail on the week of 17th as well. Just not sure it would be the beginning of the week or at the end of the week..
well my friend's friend called cno this week and found out that we are getting our results next week. i dont know if that means that they are mailing it next week or if we are receiving it next week. i promised myself that this time around i wouldn't call cno and bother them so yeah..lol..this is the only info i have to offer.

It seems that the only people who are beside themselves over the length of the waiting period are the IENs. I know that the deadline for applying to write the next session is soon after the results come out, but at the same time, will knowing the results today, pass or fail, be that much more satisfying than knowing on Monday, for example? The extra couple of days aren't going to change the results and they aren't going to affect a person's retroactive pay if they've passed.

I am not sure about others, but for me knowing the result few more days earlier might help my life more. I was working before knowing the result, and once I received the letter that said that I failed, they revoked my license at the same time. The impact was very big. I could not work from that moment. What that mean is that I did not have any money to live. I don't even want to think about how my life would have turned to if I couldn't get any support from my parents. All the bills, rent, insurance etc. I am not married, so the only people that I could turn to were my parents. They had to lend me money again. I told my unit manager that I would like to work as soon as possible once i pass my exam. Some people are saying that they feel like their lives are on hold. I feel the same. I can't do anything. My university education right now is useless. If I look for much harder, I guess I can still get a job that is not nursing related, but for now, I wanted to focus on this exam. Which can change my life. So, for me, I am very anxious to know the result.
It's sad that you didn't pass the first time you wrote, had your interim license revoked and had to rely on the support of your parents. But I'd be willing to bet my mortgage that you weren't the only one in that situation, IENs or Canadian candidates alike. (I know a young Canadian lady who is not a nurse, but who lost her first job out of university due to cutbacks and she ended up having to move back to her parents' home and still owes them about $8000. It took her 10 months to find a job in her field.)
So let's suppose you fail a second time. How will knowing that today make you feel any better than waiting until Monday? If you've passed, of course the celebration would be starting a few days sooner, but it won't really change the speed with which you get back to work. It will still take as long as it takes. You realize that you won't be issued your registration in the same envelope as your results, don't you? You still have to pay your registration fees and get your permit to practice. A receipt is proof of registration, but without even that, having a letter that says you passed doesn't remove the revocation of your initial license.

When I read your post it was as if I wrote it myself, so I can completely empathize. Same thing with myself in terms of the financial situation. I'm living off my part-time job earnings from when I was still a student. Luckily, I do live at home and plan to for a year or two until I can find a place of my own because I'm only 22. In terms of getting a job, I cannot bring myself to go back to a non-nursing job (i.e. retail) because I don't want to commit to a place and then find out that I passed the exam. I don't think it would be fair to them. Now I am also faced with the predicament of whether or not I can still get my old job back from the new grad initiative. I'm hoping that it will still be possible and was asked to contact my manager upon being successful. I'm rooting for us and everyone who wrote the exam! Think positively!:nuke:
