It's sad that you didn't pass the first time you wrote, had your interim license revoked and had to rely on the support of your parents. But I'd be willing to bet my mortgage that you weren't the only one in that situation, IENs or Canadian candidates alike. (I know a young Canadian lady who is not a nurse, but who lost her first job out of university due to cutbacks and she ended up having to move back to her parents' home and still owes them about $8000. It took her 10 months to find a job in her field.)So let's suppose you fail a second time. How will knowing that today make you feel any better than waiting until Monday? If you've passed, of course the celebration would be starting a few days sooner, but it won't really change the speed with which you get back to work. It will still take as long as it takes. You realize that you won't be issued your registration in the same envelope as your results, don't you? You still have to pay your registration fees and get your permit to practice. A receipt is proof of registration, but without even that, having a letter that says you passed doesn't remove the revocation of your initial license.
When I read your post it was as if I wrote it myself, so I can completely empathize. Same thing with myself in terms of the financial situation. I'm living off my part-time job earnings from when I was still a student. Luckily, I do live at home and plan to for a year or two until I can find a place of my own because I'm only 22. In terms of getting a job, I cannot bring myself to go back to a non-nursing job (i.e. retail) because I don't want to commit to a place and then find out that I passed the exam. I don't think it would be fair to them. Now I am also faced with the predicament of whether or not I can still get my old job back from the new grad initiative. I'm hoping that it will still be possible and was asked to contact my manager upon being successful. I'm rooting for us and everyone who wrote the exam! Think positively!:nuke:
I am pretty sure you can go back to your previous job if you pass. My manager told me that usually managers hold the positions if one can't work because he/she fails the exam. My manager is holding my position right now under the condition that I pass this exam.
really? cool. what province are you from? ontario gets the results faster than those of us in BC right?
Think about it. The Canadian Nurses Association office is in Ottawa. Of course people in Ontario will get their results a day or ten sooner.
HI,Anybody has any idea about how much is the passing score?.If yes please reply soon.I am so nervous.
Doesn't matter what the passing score is because they only report Pass/Fail.
well in june..ppl in the west got their results earlier than us in the east...meaning ontario..so i dont think it matters that cna office is in toronto...the results from cna is given to each provincial regulatory body..and it is their responsibility to mail them out..now if each province takes their sweet time in doing this..then you have ppl getting their results at various dates...thats just me speaking from my experience in july
I heard from one of the proctor ladies at my exam in June (I forgot their official title), that all the tests went to a central scoring facility in Ottawa, then once all exams were accounted for and scored, they were dispatched to the provincial authorities to be distributed in that particular province. She was adamant that ALL the exams from ALL the provinces had to be in and accounted for before they would even begin scoring them. So, according to her,any delays you see between receiving scores in different areas of the country were due strictly to the timeliness of the province you live in.
It seems that the only people who are beside themselves over the length of the waiting period are the IENs. I know that the deadline for applying to write the next session is soon after the results come out, but at the same time, will knowing the results today, pass or fail, be that much more satisfying than knowing on Monday, for example? The extra couple of days aren't going to change the results and they aren't going to affect a person's retroactive pay if they've passed.
I would like to remind you that this thread is for IENs to express themselves on this subject. We are sharing how much we are affected by this experience. I wonder if anyone who is not in the same situation can understand how much hangs in the balance.
Please, nurses, feel free to express yourselves!

I think only people who are going through the same situation as me will understand what I am saying right now. It will not make any difference in terms of celebration or frustration. But right now, people are going through very tough time. They want to end this as soon as possible. Especially people like me who failed the exam once and feel like their lives are on hold. Some of my friends are actually seeing phyciatrists. Why? because they are extremely stressed and nervous. Wouldn't it be better if these times are shorter? even if it is only 1 day?
If you are working in a hospital, you can see that some patients are very eager to be discharged, eager to know their test results. Do you understand why? because they are living in uncertainty. If the doctor says "You have a tumour. We have to run the test to see if it is cancerous". After the test, the waiting time is not pleasant at all to the patients. It will not make any different if they know the result in one week or in three weeks. The result will be the same, but what the patient is going through during that time..painful.
For me, it is not any different. I am not going to die if I fail again, but it would have been nice if this waiting period was shorter.
Reading the letter, fail or pass, can stop this uncertainty...and go forward..not remaining at the same position.
