Reciprocity
I was just wondering if RECIPROCITY is still being granted for inter-provincial nurses in Canada? (sorry i'm not even sure what it's really called) Does anyone know what requirements you would be asked in order to apply for it? I'm an RN in B.C. under CRNBC and I was curious about maybe working in say.. Alberta or Mannitoba. I'm also an IEN btw so that kind of maybe complicates things? Would I be required to take the CRNE all over again? or would I be required to take some kind of english exam since mine pretty much expired a looong time ago.. I'm thinking though that other provinces might ask that I take a refresher course and I wouldn't mind that but I'm more concerned about the whole having to take the CRNE all over again. Does anyone know? Sorry if I'm posting a new thread that quite possibly has already been asked but I've been sifting through the older posts and so far haven't really found anything..

New Mexico Licensure Question
Hi there, I'm actually asking in behalf of a friend of mine. She took the NCLEX exam for new mexico but she didn't make it so she has to reapply and take it again, but she needs a little help (i can't do much because i'm a canadian RN so i'm not sure how it works for the nclex, and i thought that everyone helped me when i asked about our exams so y not try to ask here for hers as well.) anyways here goes: She was hoping someone could give her the steps on how to reapply to take the exam for the state of new mexico? does she need to answer the nclex examination registration form that they sent her (its printed in black and orange) and pay 200 dollars (examination fee) or just pay 60 dollars for the reexamnation fee? She says that she's registered in pearsonvue for her 1st take, does she have to re-register again in order to retake the exam? If she were to send the forms back with the fees, does she address it to NCLEX OPERATIONS p.o. box 64950 St. Paul MN 55164-0950 or does she send it to 6301 Indian School Rd. NE Suite 710 Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110? will everything be sent together? or seperately? She's tried calling the bon in new mexico but she says they couldnt answer her question.. so i hope someone can help!

CRNE exam OCTOBER 8, 2008
I just got my results. Seeing the envelope was SCARY. Why is it so huge?! You know how when you apply to colleges you think that if you get the small envelope you failed and if you get the really thick big ones you might've passed? that was how i felt seeing that huge envelope.. thing is what kept running through my mind was that i failed because the evelope was so huge and that that was probably because of all they forms they had to send me in order to retake the exam.. it was scary.. anyways i passed congrats to the others as well!

CRNE exam OCTOBER 8, 2008
I used the lippincott review series (i think there are 7 of them?). Only purchased the Med Surg, Maternal and Psych ones though. It kind of helped but the practice tests from those as well as the from the mosby reviewers were so different from those asked in the tests. I don't really know if the reviewers helped any. I too am nervous about the results but to be honest i'm more excited because i'd just like for our wait to be over... (no im not confident about passing, to be honest i don't think i passed, but i guess i just want to KNOW for sure rather than keep guessing)

filipino to migrate in Canada.... what to do to become a RN?
you can do the 250 before or after you write the exam, you have 2 years time i think from the time they assess your papers. You'll need a tourist visa to get here. I know someone who, she used a tourist visa to get here, since we're given the interim permit she used that to find an employer willing to process her papers to convert her tourist visa to a working one, oh and she's to take the october crne :) hope that helps

filipino to migrate in Canada.... what to do to become a RN?
hmmm i dont know either.. sorry if i couldn't be of much help... umm have you tried checking your application status online? coz is faster to check it online, see what you lack and etc and after you've seen what exactly they need from you then thats the time you'd call them? although yeah calling is also a good idea too although based from experience when you call them theyre usually busy so like you have to leave a message and they're the ones who have to call you back

filipino to migrate in Canada.... what to do to become a RN?
hmmm i don't know... i've never really met anyone whose had problems with crnbc assessment.. usually it goes pretty smoothly... uhh have you passed your ielts requirements? maybe thats what they meant? if your band score is low i think crnbc wont assess your requirements, but i am sure they'll want you to retake the english exam..

filipino to migrate in Canada.... what to do to become a RN?
hi there, i'm sorry to hear about that, but uh... what do you mean? they're not allowing you to take the crne because your experience doesnt count? because i have no experience and i just wrote on the form N/A and i'm registered to take the exam this october...

filipino to migrate in Canada.... what to do to become a RN?
hello there, if you registered with crnbc you have the choice of working he 250 before or after you write the exam. have you registered to wrie thre exam? the next step would probably be to get a visa.. a tourist visa would be the fastest way for you to get to canada to write the exam but as for working i dont thnk you'll ba allowed to. you can try checking out www.canada.gc.ca for visa information... sorry i couldnt be of much help.. but have you tried lookin for an agency? to help along with the processing for a visa?

How to find a job on basis of temoprary registration??
hello janfrn, thanks so much for that piece of info, that was what i was really waiting to hear, the 'you don't have to take it ever again once you've passed it'. yes, i do know that you're only allowed to take the exam 3 times, and that if i do fail the exam this october (heres to hoping i dont) that the earliest i'll probably be able to retake it would be by june and that if you do fail you probably wont be able to work your interim (err that part isnt really so much a problem in my case seeing as to i havent found an institution willing to supervise me bec of my lack of experience.. sad but what can you do).. so what i was thinking is that ill be going back to my country for a bit, after the exam, do volunteer work in a hospital.. now i know its not canadian experience.. but at least its experience, might make my resume look more appealing and more importantly it might boost my confiendce a bit eh? anyways thats still a looong way away, and i have to say i should focus on studying to pass the exam first :wink2:

How to find a job on basis of temoprary registration??
hello mgill32, yes it is a bit frustrating but i dont really blame the institutions, i mean we/i am sort of a bigger liability than an asset were they to hire me under an interim permit because i have no experience and thing is, its not a sure thing that im going to pass the crne.. anyways, i'm not too sure about ontario.. but here in bc its a must that you work the 250 hours before you can register although you do have the option of using the interim before or after you take the exam... i'm a bit confused about that though because does that mean that even though you take the crne and you pass it you won't be able to get a license unless you've worked the 250 hours? coz i mean it does say that you can only register after you've worked that... and also is there an expiry date to your passing the crne? like do you have to take it over if you've not worked the 250 hours and your file with the regulatory body (in my case crnbc) has exceeded the 2 year limit? Hello RGN1, yes.. i do think that it would have been best if i called the hr departments first before sending in my resume but some of the institutions said that they didnt want phone calls.. so.. anyways ill probably try again after i sit the exam and passed it.. maybe then i'll have a better shot at gettng a job :) oh and i've already passed all the paperwork, actually i was hoping i could make it to take the june exam but i missed the deadline so i settled for october instead.. goodluck in your exam!
