Hello everyone,
I have started the application process for the BSN to DNP Anesthesia Track program at University of Miami that will start January 2019. It would be nice to know who else is applying to compare information, help one another, and start getting to know our classmates. Feel free to comment! :)
I spoke to one of the students that's in the program now and he said that there are residents at the university of Miami hospital, but we don't really compete with them.. he said on some cases we work with them but there's enough to go around. And he said just there and Jackson I think were the only spots they really had residents. The other hospitals I think it's just us
What has been expressed to me is that it's truly a great program overall. The SONHS is very organize and they handle and plan things very well, the professors really care about the students and they help you along the way, the professors do a good job at teaching and getting the information across, you get treated well at the clinical sites and for the most part they are very friendly towards the SRNA, you get really good simulation experience and even more now with their simulation hospital. These are some of the things that I recall that stood out to me the most.
I was accepted to UM, Barry, and USF. I decided to go with UM because I experienced the very things you wrote about while I was studying there for my BSN. When I intervied at these other programs they did not give me the reassurance that help would be there if I needed it. 3 years is a long time and I want feel secure that help is there if I need it.
Congrats RN man! I was accepted to USF and declined to interview at UM because I was already accepted to USF. I am sorry to hear that you did not get a good vibe from USF about helping people. We have older classmates already on our fb page who have been a ton of help and a great resource and have nothing but excellent things to say about the faculty at USF when it comes to helping facilitate their learning. Just wanted to clarify that for anyone who is interested in USF CRNA as well :) Good luck at UM!!! I wish you nothing but the best! :)
I agree with you. I am not bashing USF. If it came down to it, I would be packing my bags and heading to Tampa. The program has a great reputation and lots to offer. I just felt more comfortable with choosing Miami. I encourage everyone to look at their current situation and make the best choice for them.
Hi RNMan18, can you please tell where you take preparation courses of Organic chem and Biochemistry, I would like to prepare for nex year, thanks
I have a separate degree in Biochemistry. I took them while obtaining that degree. You can sign up at FIU or FAU as a Non degree seeking graduate student and take those classes there.
