anyone out there from this side of the country - westside. it seems like there are few options for a workdshop without having to go back east. Excelsior had one here but it filled fast. any advice would be great:bowingpur thanks[/quote']

Yea I know there aren't many options for us on the west coast. I got lucky and Lynn's workshop will be in Portland, Or in July (10 miles from me:). Otherwise I would have gone to Tina's in San Jose.

If you had money to spend on only one workshop who and where would you go. I live in Buffalo, NY

Well, Excelsior's was good, but too crowded, IMO. Annoyed me.

I will be taking the CPNE in Atlanta. Has anybody taken this workshop? How was it? How did you do on the CPNE in Atlanta?

I highly recommend Tina's in San Jose. Her workshop is 4 days long now and you get lots of practice in a realistic setting. She does a wonderful job on nmeumonics to help you. I did the EC workshop and it was okay, but the simulated labs and practice situations were not good and there was nothing on nmeumonics. We spent a lot of time in vain on care planning.

I went to Tina's workshop in San Jose and credit it as the biggest reason I passed my CPNE the first time. Tina is wonderful and it was worth the cost of the workshop, airfaire and hotel. Tina really spends time with her students and you will leave knowing everything you need to know. She also makes sure that you go through every lab with someone watching to make sure that you did it correctly. Tina also does not require a deposit which is fabulous as many students are on cancellation lists and would not want to lose money if their date changes. The classroom is stocked with a fridge that houses beverages and food so you don't go hungry if you stay to practice during lunch or stay after class. She usually took about three different shuttles back to the hotel after lecture so that you could stay and practice labs or go back to the hotel if you wanted. The weekend I tested I spoke with Tina over the phone three times. Once to go over my first care plan on Friday night, once on Saturday night to relax and calm my nerves and once on Sunday to say thank you to her because she helped me pass.

Amber07: Did you go to any other workshops? Or just Tina's? I'm not close to being ready for my CPNE, but my husband is such a financial planner... I really want to go to Tina's because I used to live in San Jose. (Secretly, I'm kind of vacation planning!)

If I can't make it work out, I'd like to go two back east/south or somewhere closer to Michigan! Tina's sounds like it would equal two, so who knows!

I've heard nothing but good things about Tina in San Jose. I know several people who have taken her workshop and felt that they passed because they went to her.

Tina's is the only workshop that I went to. I did research on a lot of them and decided that this was sounded like a good fit for me. I liked that she was stationary as I interpreted that to mean that she would have a lot of equipement since she did not have to pack it in suitcases. She has 3-4 stations set up per lab so you have enough that you aren't stuck waiting your turn to practice, she allows you to practice before and after lecture so you get a lot of hands on time. When you feel comftorable with labs you can also practice a PCS as she has 3-4 hospital beds set up with equipement nearby so you can walk yourself through them from start to finish. I have heard good things about the other workshops as well so I am not trying to discourage you from choosing one of them. I only wanted to share my positive experience. Tina also allows you to take multiple workshops if you choose without paying for them. If you do this she only asks that you assist other students and make sure that they get the lab station practice first since you have already done it. She does not ask for money for repeat workshops but takes donations to help with cost of supplies and keeping the fridge stocked. I did go back a week before I did my CPNE to reaffirm that I knew my stuff. I think I would have passed without it but really wanted that confidence booster.

Hello:

EC RN 2005 here... I did EC and chancelors care plan lab.... Chancelors was by far, much better. It is a week long. This can be costly depending on where you live. It is in Indianna. If you could hook up with others doing the same thing, you could share costs of room/rides etc... The instructors were fabulous. They broke everything down for you and had a lot of tips for passing. Good luck to everyone... Take care...
