Does anyone know what the wait is now?
At the workshop I attended, they explained the reason for the long wait on the CPNE. The CE's have other jobs. Most of them are teachers in nursing programs at area colleges. The CPNE has to be coordinated with the participating hospital AND the CE's AND they can only take so many students----first come, first serve. Excelsior is trying to get more participating hospitals and more CE's so the wait is not as long.
BIKERSRN....send me an email (PM) and I will explain the grid to you. I could not have passed CPNE without a grid. ALSO....the plane ride home is so sweet when you pass. You can finally relax and chill with a cocktail!!! I went to Racine and waited about 6 months for an opening. With that kind of wait, we really don't have an excuse not to be prepared. THE CE and CAs know that, so they are waiting and expecting perfection.
Good Luck to all the LVNs and Medics....you can do it!!!

**sigh** Get used to waiting. Even after passing CPNE, it'll take 4-6 weeks just to update your status. And then another 10 days or more just to get a "Certification of Completion of Graduation Requirements" I DON'T even want to know how long after that I can actually "graduate". Oh well, I've nothing else to do. Each week I wait is costing me $300/week in lost wages $$Ka-Ching$$
I dont really have a whole lot of experience iwth the CPNE other than what I have read, as I start to prepare myself for this long weekend.
From what I understand, if you request several hospitals to test at, and then call asking for a "cancellation" date with no time frame required (meaning that you need less than 5 days notice) you can get a time VERY VERY quick. From what I have read people that request cancellations with 2-3 days notice have been able to get test dates anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks from when they submitted there CPNE application.

I have to agree with this. If you don't do it by way of getting on a cancellation list and assure them a minimal response time -- they would love if you could take a cancellation with only one day notice, for instance--then you will be subject to a six to nine month waiting period, depending on the site. Apparently, certain sites, like Amarillo and Madison have much longer waits than NY, Racine, Plano and others. The former will be closer to 9 months while the latter may be closer to 4 months.

Hi all,
I am in the process of getting all my stuff together for applying CPNE. In the past threads I have heard about a GRID. I looked in the CPNE study guide but can not find it. Is there a template anyone knows about?> If I am to make if for myself does anyopne have any guidelines? Thank you very much. Congrats on everyones progress. Jackie
