Passed my NCLEX with 265 questions!!!
I will tell you that anybody can pass at 265 and fail at 75.. met quite a few nurses who failed at 75 the first time and passed at 265 the second time around. Do not be discouraged. You will pass. 265 just means the computer could not make a passing or failing decision on the spot. Keep praying and I am sure the lord will answer your request. God Bless, you will be in my prayers tonight, Happy Thanksgiving!

Question for any single mother or dual military Army Nurses?
Well thank you for your insight. I really dont feel this is the right time for me to go Active Duty, due to my son being my priority. I just wanted to know from other dual military couples and single mothers how the military works out for them regarding their schedules. I've already made my decision for now.. Thanks for all the replies and thoughts, opinions.

Question for any single mother or dual military Army Nurses?
first let me say thank you for the responses. i am still trying to figure out what to do as far as going back into the military. i figure right now is not the best time to go active. i was thinking maybe back into the reserves as an officer. that way i can have some extra money per month and money towards finishing school (someday i wanna grow up and be a crna or fnp). i think the one with the real problem is me, i dont really like being a "homemaker" myself to be quite honest. i feel like my life and talent is wasting away. dont get me wrong it has been alot of fun and tears rearing my two year old but i really wanna work. that really is the bottom line and where we are headed in germany ive heard it is difficult to get an "rn" job, they dont even have a hospital in stuttgart. i think i might end up doing something else for the next 3-5 years. i am just so pissed that i studied so hard and cannot work in my field. the army is a real stickler about having experience as an rn to be hired by cpol, and my experience is mostly as an lpn hence i just graduated a couple of months ago. thank you all for hearing me out and also for relating your opinions and experience.

rn moving to Augusta
Thanks Jamangel for the advice. I spoke to the recruiter approximately 2 weeks ago. To be quite honest, I had gone with my son in tow to leave my application and wanted to ask a few questions, I dont think she took to kindly to that. But anyway I went to the VA next to MCG, iam not sure if it is uptown or downtown. I do need a day shift position and as of now am applying with several hospital's for the day shift and several dialysis clinics as well. Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it.

rn moving to Augusta
I would like to know what Hospital's are RN Friendly in Augusta, as far as scheduling goes. I went to the VA to apply and to be quite honest I did not think that their Nurse Recruiter was very receptive towards me . I was just asking questions regarding their schedule and she went right into asking me questions about my clinical experience, as if I was interviewing (I got my ADN online with Excelsior and have 5 classes to go before BSN with Excelsior). I was looking for a day shift position since I have a child, something else she told me that they could not work with - my schedule. I was shocked to see that she (nurse recruiter) was unwilling to work with my schedule considering they are advertising 12 open positions and are "accepting graduate nurses". I ve been an LPN since 2002 whom was trained in the military (trust me this alone is worth more than RN school training out there) and have worked in Nursing Homes since 2002. I think that makes me more prepared than most of the new RN's out there. If anyone out in Augusta can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it. Also if any nurses out there know of extended childcare services in Augusta which are available, please let me know. Thanks and God Bless!

criminal record from a looong time ago....
Raindrop, your record will not affect your entering into the military since you were a juvenile. But it should be disclosed to your recruiter and he/she will tell you what step to take next. They usually have waivers for felons and since you werent even convicted, I dont think it is a big deal at all. I have a GED, was a 91WM6 (LPN) in the Army and now I am an RN. You have two options 1.) Since your an RN with an ADN you can enter the Army as a 2LT with the US Army Reserves, finish your degree and then transfer to Active Duty as an Officer. 2.) Wait til you finish your BSN and then enter as an Active Duty Officer. Either way you are an Officer, it just depends if you would like to become one earlier or not. Good luck!! :monkeydance:

Question for any single mother or dual military Army Nurses?
Thank you for your response, the reason I ask this is because I dont want to make the mistake of becoming a commisioned officer and then not be able to fulfill my part because of the hours assigned to me. When I say I have a 2 year old son, I mean he is my priority. I know that when I was single in the military 5 am meant 445 am and I am not sure if as dual military we would have discretion with time as far as taking the baby to daycare, etc. I am really confused and I figure I cant make a decision until I am 100% sure this is what I want. Also my husband doesnt respect the role of a "homemaker" that much.... he is not rude but at times expects me to do absolutely everything since he is the major breadwinner and this gets on my last nerve. Anyway I feel like I am venting..... I would like to thank everyone for their response, maybe this is something I will consider once the baby gets older..

Question for any single mother or dual military Army Nurses?
I have a question for military nurses who are single mothers. or dual military mothers. I have been married for the past 7 years with a "military lifer". My question is if I decided to also go back into the military, how would the hours work out for me? I have a 2 year old son. Will the Army be able to work with me regarding the scheduling as an officer? I get so frustated moving all the time and not having a job. My husband doesnt respect me as a "housewife and full time mom" :angryfire and basically I am really tired of just following him around the world and not being able to do something for myself. There are no hospitals where I can work near Stuttgart, where I am headed to in January.... I was previously in the military as a single enlisted soldier, does it get any better as an officer? I am really confused right now... any advice from real world nurses in the military would really help me. How do you like it?

Passed my NCLEX with 265 questions!!!
i just received the great news that i passed the nclex rn!!!!!!!!!!! i am so happy and grateful to the lord jesuschrist for allowing me the opportunity to represent him in this world! i took all 265 questions and spent five exhausting hours doing my test this saturday. do not give up in this exam, even if you feel you are not passing, the questions are not easy by any means, several times i broke down crying and felt let getting up from my chair and giving up. i just couldnt believe that the computer kept going and going and going! i studied from the saunders comprehensive review, took me 3 months to review it entirely, do all the questions! read the kaplan book and did all the 180 questions as well. trust me this will help you.... study their strategies and priority questions. thank god for these groups without them i would not have been as successful! praise be to the lord jesuschrist whom without i really would have felt lost, may this and all my successes be for his glory! :balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons:

Deaconess Accreditation Issues?
florida accepts ec asn grads that were previously lpn's. california does not accept current ec asn grads. but ec is working with the bon of california, to have them accept prior lpn's with an additional amount of clinical hours. they had a thread about this in the distance learning forum recenty, i am sure you can find it. as far as i know, being accredited by the nln is not mandatory for nursing schools- it is still a voluntary process. now being accredited by the state is definetly mandatory, in order to be able to test for the nclex in that state. hope that helps you understand it better.......good luck!

Are yahoo excelsior notes enough for exam?
Well Singlelife, I figured cause of your email name that you are SINGLE. If you are then you have all the time in the world to devote to the Excelsior College RN program. If you study hard, Iam sure you will make it within your time frame. I have 3 kids and a small puppy, and I have to study at least 6 weeks prior to testing. I wish I were single I would have flown through the Exams. I am a very devoted learner though. Good Luck to you! :wink2:
