CPNE Wait

Does anyone know what the wait is now?

They received my application packet on Sept 23 and I test in Plano March 23, 24, 25. The wait varies by location, but they tell you to expect at least 4 months and no more than 9 months. You must have at least 21 of your 30 general education credits done and all of the nursing concepts tests done before you can apply. It took me 2 weeks to complete the application packet due to the background check requirements.

How long after they received your application did it take to notify you of your date? They received mine Oct 25.

Can you still find out info about the wait times on the CPNE Scheduling thread of the EPN?

Yeah they do post the waits but not very often.

I am ready to go but unfortunately Excelsior has way too many students who want to test...I think they need to really consider opening more test sites. I think I have called MPAC almost every week and I get the same response over and over.."Sorry we don't have any test date yet." I guess this is a HUGE lesson for me on waiting!! I am ready to go I have been studying EVERY day and took Lynns workshop in October. I plan on testing in Amarillo but I told them I would be fine anywhere and just want to get going with a date at least. Well I hope everyone gets their date soon!!!

Still waiting here... I turned in my application packet and paid in full on October 4th. I requested Amarillo also. My advice to anyone applying is to pay the minimum amount of money, at least until you get your testing date. Perhaps if the money slowed down, Excelsior would speed up.

They closed the west coast test sites (b/c Cali no longer accepts Excelsior) but really did a lot of people a disservice. If you have to travel anyway in order to test, the more sites open the better. Excelsior is really going downhill slowly as a means to get an RN degree. Most people don't have a lifetime to wait for some impacted public program.

Little confused by your response Caliotter3...don't get me wrong! Excelsior is the best school that I have been to thus far. I went the traditional route and hated it because it became a contest of not how smart you were but who could brown nose your teacher the best. I did not want to play that game so now I am moving on to nontraditional. Also with a baby this program was GREAT. What they did in California was VERY unfortunate but with the large population I think they knew that the money would go to Excelsior and not Community Colleges if Excelsior was going to stay. I think it has alot to do with money!

I received my date this week for Amarillo on Feb 16-18. My application was received on October 4th. Perhaps it was 12 weeks because I only wanted Amarillo?

It can take a lot longer if you're open to only one location. I had a great experience in Amarillo though. If Julie is your CA, she'll really help keep you calm.

Good luck!
