Okay...so I applied online for CPNE on Tuesday (4/26/11) evening...and all my documents were accepted on Wednesday...and Yesterday I received my CPNE date! I will be taking it on August 19-21 @ Albany Medical Center! Can't believe I found out so quickly! I am going to be going to Tina's Workshop in PA July 22-24. My FCCA will be arriving on May 17 and I have from the 18-27th to work on it! I can't believe I am at the point....it feels so good to be at the end of the road. Next week will start reading through the CPNE study guide. Anyone else going to this CPNE??
The FCCA dates are not online and there may be summer dates, but the op posted they requested a date after August 15 and got one right after that. There is a post from a few weeks back that shows someone who asked for a date three weeks out and got it. Depends on how flexible you are for test dates and locations.
SPAC, I was told was the slowest with at least 5-6 month wait. I hope I am able to get a waiver to retest earlier and go with beachie and westpalm.

So, SPAC would be Southern testing centers?
It looks like they are scheduling in blocks. I know people who are testing in July and August that just recently applied, but they are in the NPAC and the MPAC. So maybe if we are eligible next month, maybe we are looking at an late August/September date.... but I have not heard ANYONE recently getting a quick SPAC date (someone prove me wrong?? please? :-( ). It's almost making me wonder if I should pay the extra $ to travel to New York or PA to get a date quicker. I guess we will see when it comes....You should get an email from Excelsior with the FCCA testing windows once you are eligible :-)
That is what I am likely going to do, provided I get through all of these exams. I will have to cough up the money, and will probably skip the hands on workshop and do all the online workshops. I got my info from the CPNE board on the EPN, and that is where I realized that dates are pushing out farther and father into the summer already (sniff) but I will take a cancel if I have to.
Testing dates are easier to obtain in the northern area, NPAC, partly because there are more sites there, nine last time I checked. My friend traveled all the way from CA to Albany NY when she tested because it was the quickest site to get a date at that time.
How quick did she get a date by choosing the npac? Are there advantages vs disadvantages of choosing one over another?
Advantages vs. disadvantages would have to be on a person to person basis. Such as, how near do you live? What are the plane fares from your home to site X? Individual things about the CAs and CEs that work at the various sites would only be known by those who have already tested and are willing to talk about their experiences. And even then, there is no assurance that certain individuals will, or will not, be working on any given testing weekend. Info about the physical layout of the hospital sites can be obtained either here or on the EPN, likewise the peds patient situation. Some sites rarely have a peds patient available, while others have them every weekend. Do you want to be slated to attend in upstate NY in the dead of winter when travel might be dangerous? It does happen. Local events sometimes have an impact, for example, getting a room in Saratoga Springs can be impossible during the racing season unless you were wise enough to make reservations way in advance. The best thing a person can do is to prepare for the CPNE, period, and sign up for the place that makes most sense to them as an individual, based on the info they have at the time.

Wow it sounds difficult but doable. I have been doing one task at a time but maybe i should rethink that. I thought too when ls3 was done i would do fcca within 2wks but i didnt know until today that there are certain times that is offered too. Makes me worried! I really just wanted to be done w fcca and cpne but beginning of august.... Ls3 is in less than2wks then ill start fcca i guess when they allow me.
