Fall is here...and so is COVID. This was supposed to be a “Summer of Hope” as residents got vaccinated, lives were saved, and things returned to normal. Instead, it is now a “Fall of Gloom and Doom” as the Delta variant is raging across the nation. For this contest, we want you to share your ideas of how the surging COVID tide can be turned around.

Fall is here...and so is COVID. This was supposed to be a “Summer of Hope” as residents got vaccinated, lives were saved, and things returned to normal. Instead, it is now a “Fall of Gloom and Doom” as the Delta variant is raging across the nation. Hospitals are dealing with more COVID patients and overflowing ICUs than ever as the Delta variant spreads like the California wildfires. Schools have opened their doors for the first time in many months, and with this comes many pediatric COVID patients who are not able to be vaccinated dealing with this deadly virus. One would think by now that people would realize that COVID is real and is going to continue to spread, taking more lives, including our children unless… everyone does their part…
Since the beginning of the Pandemic, nurses have been at the forefront of the ongoing COVID battle. What can we (nurses) do to help turn the tide...to decrease the number of admissions...to save more lives??? There are many factors and issues that need to be addressed, including the massive amount of inaccurate information that we hear on a daily basis. As the most trusted profession (and the most overworked members of the front line) the nation needs to hear your thoughts.
Article Topics:
For this contest, we want you to share your ideas of how the surging COVID tide can be turned around. Nurses are the ones who are caring for COVID patients. You are the one who has witnessed so many deaths. Many times you are the one who hears their last words before they are intubated and the last person they see before they die. You are emotionally and physically exhausted. As you struggle to care for your patients, you hear stories on the news about harmful COVID myths and misinformation that people are actually following. What are the things you would like to tell the public about how they can help turn the tide of this deadly Pandemic?
NOTE: Although politics and politicians have played a part in the path that COVID has taken over these many months, article content should not focus on politics, politicians… Instead, content for this contest should be based on scientific findings with credible sources listed. Articles that do not comply with this or other rules listed below will not be approved for participation in the contest.
Here are a few suggestions to get you started.
