The leaves are gone, there is a chill in the air, Thanksgiving has passed. Winter is knocking on the door...and, unfortunately, COVID is still hanging around. The Holiday Season is upon us and it's time for another article contest. Article Contest: Holiday Edition 2021

$800 in Prizes!  4 Winners Will Each Receive a $200 Amazon Gift Card

The holiday season is upon us, full of holiday preparations, shopping, and stress.  The holidays mean different things to different people.  But we all experience a level of stress. 

We are definitely looking ahead, bidding farewell to the year that ends, and welcoming the New Year and the positive changes that it will bring. 

Article Topics:

For this contest, we want you to share some holiday memories of impactful patient encounters, how you will celebrate the holidays, what the holiday season means to you. 

Here are a few suggestions to get you started.

  • As a nurse, how do you balance your time between work, holiday prep/celebrations, family, with time for yourself?
  • How can you help reduce the stress of your patients and co-workers?
  • What meaningful holiday memories do you have of when you really made a difference for a patient?
  • What meaningful holiday memories do you have of when a patient really made an impact on you?
  • What are you thankful for?
  • As we anticipate the New Year, what changes are you hoping to see - professionally, personally, globally? 
  • What are your goals and resolutions for improvement?
  • How can nurses help patients maintain emotional/ mental health during the holidays?

Contest Rules of Submission:

  • Article tone and content must comply with our contest rules and Terms of Service.  No solicitation. 
  • Articles must have a minimum of 700 words.
  • Articles must be submitted between December 1st and January 31st.
  • No plagiarism - Your article must be written in your own words. 
  • No solicitation.
  • Articles must be unique, and should not be listed on other websites, blogs, article sites etc. prior to posting on allnurses. Once your articles have been published on allnurses.com, you are welcome and encouraged to share them on your other sites and social channels.
  • You may submit multiple articles.
  • If you have created your article in a document, you must post all content from that document in the text box as outlined below. DO NOT POST THE PDF DOCUMENT LINK ONLY Your article submission will not be accepted if we only receive a PDF link.
  • You grant permission to allnurses.com rights to publish in magazines, books, etc. You will be notified and credited if published.
  • Keep personal formatting choices such as font choice and size to a minimum - use only for headings. 
  • Check grammar, punctuation, and spelling before clicking SUBMIT.
  • Articles will be reviewed and approved by the Editorial Staff for consideration before displaying publicly.
  • Upon closure of the contest, all articles will be reviewed and the top 4 selected by the Editorial Team.  Winners will be listed in this announcement.

Who Can Enter?

This contest is open to nursing students and nurses who are registered allnurses members. (Membership is free) You don’t have to be an experienced writer.  As long as you are a nurse or student with any experience at all, you have something to share. We want to hear from you.

The sooner you submit your article, the sooner others will be reading about your area of expertise, and the more views and likes you will receive.  Who knows...You could be one of the lucky ones enjoying a $200 prize. 

How to Submit Your Article

STEP 1  Go to the General Nursing Forum and click the green 'ADD NEW TOPIC' button.

STEP 2  Enter the article Title. A great title helps the reader understand what the content will be about. The title should be clear and short. 

STEP 3  Click, "Article?" dropdown menu. Click "Yes I'm Submitting An Article".

STEP 4  Enter a Summary (What is the article about?)

STEP 5  Enter a Headline. The headline should support the title.

STEP 6  Enter Content. Do not submit the article as a PDF file.

STEP 7  Include a list of references with links

STEP 8  Enter (optional) Author Bio

STEP 9  Submit Article. Check grammar, punctuation, and spelling before clicking SUBMIT.

  • Please do not submit the article as a PDF file.
  • You may submit images if needed. We will always add our own custom article image.
  • Once you have submitted the Article, it will be reviewed by the Editorial Staff. If the Editors have questions, they will contact you for additional information. Contest Winners will be selected by the Editorial Staff.
