Country's with socialized medicine vs the USA (Personal Income Tax)

I know a patient who's been in the hospital since January. She's on State medicaid. No NH will take her because she's dialysis dependent and has a trach. A trach she takes care of by herself. Another state will take her but the State she lives in won't pay that NH. They would rather pay the hospital for her care.
Citing people who aren't getting care is fruitless, because for every case you can site many of us can site people getting care.
What needs to be done is to reduce the COST of healthcare in the US. Never mind who pays for it. Make it affordable for every one.
Please don't compare us to France. Most French people have private insurance so they don't have to go to state run hospitals or wait for care. So it's not an equal system. Those who can afford it can get it quicker and better. So they are not getting free care they are paying excess taxes and paying for private insurance.
Please name me a premium Cancer Center in France. I can name you one in the USA. Sloan Kettering in NYC.

This is what everyone on the conservative end is talking about. We don't oppose health care reform, we simply want the government to keep its sticky paws off health care. Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Bill O Reilly, all want health care reform, simply not universal government health care.

I am with you 100%. I am amazed at the GULLIBILITY of those that have succumbed to the BRAINWASHING of Republican Talking Heads/Big Insurance/Big Pharma and continue to support ideas that are totally AGAINST their own interests for fear of some IMAGINARY socialist monster.
WAKE UP -embrace the FACTS and don't spoil it for all the rest of us that want to stop getting screwed over by the current system -PLEASE!!!!!!

I am amazed that people still watch MSNBC and believe the government could successfully run health care. I am amazed people still believe Barry Obama. I am amazed how progressive liberals have no clue what the constitution is, why this country was founded, or what socialism is. You blame the "talking heads" simply because those people are putting the brakes on the utopia you all are trying to create at the expense of freedom.

My father in law has been to the land down under several times. As he has said, it does not compare to these United States. We are the wealthiest nation on earth. We are the beacon of freedom for all the world, the gold standard among free peoples.
If I am hit by a bus in America, I will not go into bankruptcy.

I believe in American exceptionalism. I believe God placed this land between two great oceans, wind swept and God blessed. I do care what happens to my fellow man, which is why I don't want socialized medicine. It leads to crappy care. I BELIEVE IN HEALTHCARE REFORM, DO YOU PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND THAT. Everybody knows something needs to be done, but NOT GOVERNMENT RUN MEDICINE. The government has not business in this area.

I care about my country -that's why I voted for Obama. I didn't drink any kool-aid -I made an informed, educated choice.

PS: Patriotism is great - it's one of the things I like best about Americans. Blind patriotism, at the expense of logic, is silly. Putting other countries or nationalities down (especially when you've never even been there) is rude and ignorant.

PPS: I think you'll find that Australia has assisted the US in every global war effort to date, sent firefighters to help with natural disasters etc.... you may want to inform yourself before making yourself appear even more ridiculous.

clearly another liberal that hates america - i have been outside the united states many times - i have seen many (moderator edit) world countries - and i still think america is the greatest nation on earth, as long as the far left cooks that liver here don't take over and try to socialize everything while hating on america 24-7.

So when have you made enough money? How about I cap your income at say, $35,000 per year. That is more than enough to live on because I said so. Do you realize how dangerous it is limiting a private corporations profit? This isn't the USSR, or do you want it to be the Communist States of America?

Oh please...We have limited the utility companies for years to a 10-15% ROR and the companies continue to do just fine. We are captive customers of the insurance companies. They would do just fine on a 5-7% ROR....

good post, but liberals won't understand because it makes sense. babble a little bit, make no sense and talk about raising taxes and they'll nod in agreement, scream change, and be your friend.
everyone knows we have problems in our healthcare system, but universal healthcare is not the answer.
i was educated in private school and my son goes to private school. i refused to let him attend the socialist indoctrination camps.

good to know you will not use the usa's current socialist health care system when you turn 65--medicare is what i am talking about!!!!! why should this socialized medical plan (medicare) be available only when you turn 65? good to know you don't use the library, the police or fire dept or have attended public higher education. you must have gone to a private nursing school that was not tax supported like our community colleges and universities are. these are examples of socialist institutions too! or did you attend a government, tax supported social indoctrination camp for your nursing degree????
