Cook Children's Pediatric Nurse Residency program - July 2015 Cohort

Published

Hey y'all!

I am super excited the Cook Children's Pediatric Nurse Residency Program finally posted the opening date for applications to the July 2015 Cohort (January 2nd, 2015!). I am working on the residency requirements and plan to do some mock trials with my professors while I finish my last semester in the Rutgers ABSN program.

Anyone from the previous cohorts have suggestions for interview questions to practice or other suggestions for hopeful applicants? What did you think of the case studies?

Anyone else applying for the July 2015 Cohort??

Thanks for the info futurernbsn2015

Hi Everyone,

I have been reading all of your comments about the July 2015 residency program at Cooks. I called this morning to speak with Nancy because I haven't received a call about an interview either. She told me that they were still calling people and everyone should hear within the next couple of days. She said they are really behind due to the weather. Has anyone else heard anything different or if today was the last day? I haven't received an email notifying me otherwise and my application online hasn't changed. Any advice or other information that has been heard would help. I am stressing out over here! lol

Hi yall,

I recently received a call about interviewing for Cook Children's and have my interview on the 16th. I was just wondering if anyone had their interview yet and had any advice about the process or what to expect. Thanks!

Just had my interview today. They were very kind, so don't stress yourself out about it. They asked a good number of behavioral questions and then the case study and then asked for any questions. Have some residency-specific questions because a current resident is one of the interviewers. It was a little stressful but they were encouraging and they said we would hear something by the end of next week or the week after that.

I had my interview yesterday. I agree with Vandydani, the current residents were phenomenally welcoming. I was told there were roughly 300 applicants this round, but I wasn't told how many received interviews. The cohort before this one had 10 people and they've had as many as 25 in the past, but the typical number of accepted is between 12-15. Good luck everyone!!

From my understanding, today was the last day for interviews. I had mine today and thought the first portion which were behavioral questions went well then during the case study there wasn't much feedback just a lot of listening and writing from the panel. I was wondering if others and the same experience during their interview. Good luck to all and hopefully we will hear at the end of the week.

I also had mine today! I thought the behavioral quesitons went decent, however I had a bunch of clinical specific situations prepared and felt like I ended up answering with work related scenarios that weren't medical since they fit their questions better so I feel like that probably puts me at a disadvantage. I also wasn't sure how I felt abou the scenario question, I like was confident but could see the person checking off like when I got an assessment right or something like that so then that just stressed me out haha. Hopefully it went better than I feel like it did! I just really want to know when we will hear by.

Just got called and was extended an offer!

Same here and accepted!! Congrats!!

Did they tell yall how many they are accepting??

She said they are accepting 12. They can potentially go up to 15 though.

Thanks! I'm sure they already called those 12 today then.
