Oh, I loved the pen addict thread, because I'm totally out of the closet. Even when I was a little kid, my favorite thing was school supply shopping. I admit, I felt a twinge of jealousy when I went to Staples with my best friend who was stocking up on school stuff because she's still in college. I graduated in May, and don't know what to do with myself because I have no school supplies to buy.

But, tomorrow I'm going to buy new pens to start my first RN job with!!

So excited!!

There are plenty of uses for pens as a new RN (congrats, by the way). Get plenty of colors...red for alerts, green for okay, yellow for reminders...all sorts of special codes just for you. In addition, you will be learning even more, so, get all of the pens that you need. And, think about it...NOW, you can get pens from drug reps, managed care, and even more goodies, like stick ups shaped like feet, stress sponges shaped like capsules, feet, etc... So many more opportunities, so many new addictions.

A few years ago, a diabetic rep came with stuffed 'animals' shaped like triglycerides, musles, a heart, the pancreas, and all sorts of stuff. He used to look specifically for me before he gave them out to anyone else...:redpinkhe

Sue, where have you been? Check out the Are You Closet A Pen Addict Thread. Over 20 pages of nurses who have admitted openly of our addiction to pens of all sorts...pharmaceutical pens, sharpies, Bic pens; all sorts of demons came out of the closet. We admitted how we steal from each other, our loved ones, how we had to get even with people who stole our beloved pens. Some admitted to having boxes of pens that were collected over the years from drug reps. And, some of the moderators told us that they have allnurse pens, so, some of us (me included), have been sending deals, pleas and demands for them for ourselves. We were not ashamed. What happened was I have a favorite pen that I was only able to obtain from stores that advertise and that was only on occasion. One of the nurses gave me the website where they can be obtained, and (yes), I ordered 200 of them...because I placed my own logo on them. And, I was just bragging.

You will still talk to me, won't you?:chuckle

lol! I musta missed that one and I totally have this problem. Funny stuff. Congrats on scoring the pens. ;-)

I just don't know what I'm going to do when the drug reps stop handing out pens.

You know, I think I've become the pen dealer at work - word got out that I have a stash of great pens, and now everyone from housekeeping right thru to the MD's snag pens from me.

Pretty soon I'll have to either start charging or stamping my pens with

Thanks a lot Pagan... you got me curious and I had to go read all 25 pages of the thread...then, of course, I had to go order 100 pens!!!

If you REALLY want to go nuts, go to an art supply store and check out their pen aisle! Especially the rapidograph pens. Too messy for work, tho...

If there is a Calligraphy course--very cool!

I saw a Menectra Polysaccaride Pen that I almost lifted, but got busted. Also, Coumadin pens are on the road to being delivered shortly. Am trying to arrange to be the one to accept the delivery. Mouth watering in anticipation, and if I see that Menectra pen again alone, it will have a new mother.

I started out as an art major and even back when the earth was cooling, 1967-ish, Rapidographs were most coveted items!
