Connecticut Community Colleges - Applying for 2014

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

I've read through last year's version of this thread 100 times, so I thought I'd start a new one. I'm planning to apply for NCC's 2014 program. I'm taking A&P I right now (A- midterm grade, hoping to make that an A!) and will need to do the software applications class online in the winter session, so I won't be able to submit my app until final grades are out for that. Hopefully I won't be cutting it too close to the Feb 1st deadline! I'm taking my TEAS on November 18th.

Who else is applying? Where are you in the application process? Post your TEAS scores and GPA stats if you know them! My nursing GPA will be almost a 3.8 with an A- in A&P and an A in CSA105, but I dropped out two semesters in a row in 2006 (one semester medically excused but still on my transcript, the other no excuse, just screwed up being 19 and not very serious about my education at that time) I hope those hiccups won't count against me too much, luckily none of the classes I was taking at the time applied to the nursing program.

I don't think anyone going in the program should think they're better until they have that RN behind there name. Good luck to us all in the program! ;)

This coming from someone who told a clearly non-native English speaker to improve their grammar if they wanted to be an RN? Please. You don't know the first thing about me and I don't think I'm better than anyone. I think I've worked hard for my grades as have many others who lost out on spots due to a (in my opinion) flawed selection process.

By the way, it's "RN behind THEIR name" so about that grammar...

Don't even entertain her. She's just defending those (like herself) that didn't get into the ct-ccnp. Misery loves company.

I am also a non-native English. Each one of us know how hard we have worked for our goals and it is frustrating when the system leaves out the ones deserved a seat. I don't mean that I'm better than anyone at all. Peace out everybody!

My Gosh!

RInursingstudent- I Just have to say this as many posts recently have made me cringe...

Many of us are striving towards the same goal here. For some of us the time is now and for others the waiting game continues. We should be lifting each other up not throwing around condescending snide remarks. Getting into these programs are hard! It's time consuming and there just aren't enough seats at the end of the day. Wether you took on a full course load with a full time job or tackled it part time with 3 kids it doesn't make some of us better than others or give cause to insult or bully. It just shows that you have some underlying self esteem issues, or that your immature. OR possibly its just a character flaw. Nurses are supposed to be compassionate and empathetic. If your going into it to feed a power trip please find another calling.

You said your moving out of state anyway- why don't you continue your self righteous attitude in the GA forum? I'm sure they will be delighted to meet you!

LOL!!! BTW, I did get in for TRCC, never said I didn't to the poster below.

I'm confused, you quoted me and then addressed RI. Who are you trying to talk to? I'm the one who made the comment about people with low GPAs, and I admit I shouldn't have generalized. I'm just frustrated on behalf of the people (some I know in real life and some on this forum) who had really strong stats and didn't make the cut. My personal opinion is that the system is unfair. I NEVER meant to imply that I was better than anyone else. As a general rule I just don't think that way.

That was my error, No I wasn't intending to quote you, sorry I meant to reply to the thread. I really don't like this app for iPhone!

You weren't offending me or anybody in my opinion. I can be techno tragic at times! My frustrations are purely at RI- Its disturbing how often I see a negative comment pop up and I've had enough of the sarcasm. I've known quit a few fellow classmates and friends who pulled off good grades only to be wait listed and had no choice but to wait almost a year to try again. They need to expand the program to accommodate it's popularity. I'm also a fan of raising the required GPA higher than the current 2.6 is it? And a min. of just over 53% on TEAS? It's giving false hope to people who have low grades and provides a false sense of security that they can survive the program. Sorry for the confusion;)

I was wait listed, and am just curious when the deadline is to accept or decline a seat in the program is?

We (Gateway) have to send the letter in by 5/5. I registered today:)

Thank you catmoore72. I'm wait listed at Norwalk and it's killing me! Thank you for the information!! And congrats on getting in, it's very excited!!

Speaking of lottery, I just found out someone who I know got into gateway. I know her stats. 63 on teas, 3.3gpa and A- a and p. And I got waitlisted? Mmm

The lottery is not fair. I feel I got wait listed because of the system , I'm wait list number 1 of 94. It's to stressful!!!
