comfortable shoes

What are everybody's favorite shoes?? I prefer walking shoes over regular nurse's shoes but have yet to find a pair that are really comfortable. I have heard New Balance is the way to go. What models of New Balance would be worth considering or any other shoe for that matter.

So do these shoes everyone is talking about come in solid white?? I am a student and our instructors are very picky about our shoes have to be solid white.[/quote']

The Dansko Professionals come in all white, and many other colors. They're expensive though, around $100. I wore a pair of cheap NurseMates when I was in school. We had to wear solid white too and I didn't want to spend too much, b/c I just don't do white shoes. ;)

I agree that nurse mates are the worst. I was forced to wear them in Nursing School, I threw them in the trash the day I graduated. I love Klogs, they are so comfy.

You can find Danskos in all white on Ebay for in between $50-75. My first year of nursing school, I bought a pair of Cherokee Rockers. They were super light and looked like they would be really comfortable. UGH....was I EVER wrong. By the 8th hour on them, my feet are killing me and all I want to do is take 'em off and run around barefoot.

I bought my Danskos after seeing 75% of the ICU nurses at work wearing them. I paid $65 for mine off Ebay and I LOVE THEM!!! They are super comfortable (and they add several inches to my height of 5'1") and they seem like they'll last forever. I've had them over a year now and they are still as comfortable as the first day I bought them.

I recommend trying them on at a shoe store, figuring out what size you would wear (they come in Euro sizes...I wear a Euro 37, American 6.5-7) and don't be put off by how heavy and hard they may feel when you try them on. I thought there was NO way they could be comfortable after briefly trying them on at the store, but I figured what the hell and bid on a pair from Ebay. After one shift, I was in love. My heels don't hurt, my toes aren't killing me and my back isn't sore. And they're cute, which is an added bonus!!

Stay away from the Rockers, no matter how comfortable you may think they'll be!! They're horrible. In fact, if you want, you can have mine.....LOL!!

i am in love with my z-coils. i used to always have foot and leg pain after a 12 hour shift, but i never do now. i have the clogs and they are great!

I have the worst feet and have found SAS shoes to be the best! I have two pairs, and they required NO breaking in. They were wonderful from day one. I work a 12 hr shift (yeah, right! Translation: 15 hrs on my feet), am diabetic and have had plantar fasciitis. The SAS has a deep toe box and room for orthotics if needed. But I'm betting you won't need them with these shoes.

You will also be fitted for these shoes every time you buy them as your feet change, year to year.

If you can find an outlet, they are about $85-95; regular price is $100-110; but hey, pain-free feet are priceless.

I wear Reeboks. Really comfortable -- I love them. :loveya: The best thing is that mine are all white so they should accept me wearing them in nursing school clinicals.

Are Klogs really that comfortable? I knew a girl who worked with me for a while who wore them, and she swore by them. I would think that they would be kind of inconvenient, though, to run in since they slip off so easily and are so klunky. I've kind of avoided them.

Hi,

i think that this question is verry intressting what is the perfect shoe for a nurse?

I´m a nurse in Germany and after 20 years of nursing i`ve found my ultimate shoe. It´s called masai barefoot technique.

These shoes increase muscle activity& circulation, leads to a relaxed upright posture, relieves muscular tension and joint problems.

At first I was realy sceptical if these shoes would realy help me running around all night .As I bought them I was a night nurse in a nursinghome for elderly people .I was in charge for about 40 Pat. scadderd over 5 floors alone and responsible for everything... at 6 in the morning I was hardly able to stand on my feet everything was hurting or burning.

then I heard from the wonder shoe that would solve all problems I got all the information that I was able to get, and whent to my Dr., he recommended them strongly to me .

The next experience was buying the shoes the sales clark told me take the shoes home for 3 day´s and try them here is a video it will show you how you should use the shoes.

i tryed them on and thought I was drunk or on a ship i was not abel to walk decent. :rotfl: it looked so silly but I gave them a try.

After 3 days at home and beging muscle aching I bought them for 179 € thats about 200 $ and I´ve never regreted it.

No more aching feet nor backpain and the best part is your legs and bottom get in shape with out going to a Gym

all the info´s

How long did it take you to adjust to walking at work in your mBT Masai shoes. I am thinking of trying them out. Thanks, Becky

After one day I was able to walk in them not always having the feeling to be on a ship a day later I was able to drive a car and after 9 days I had no more muscle ache.

In Germany they ofer walking classes for free to join and when you purchase the shoes and you get a Video tape with instructions .

At the beginning I had my old pair of shoes in my locker but I never had to change shoes like some of my collegues.

The store were I bought my shoes let me try them over the weekend( indoors) befor I made my decision.

I would buy them again .

I had to buy "nursing shoes" for school and I did find Nursemates (I think ''Dove") are pretty comfy I used to be :nurse: anti- nursing shoes, having tried many kind only to wear K-Swiss those were the 2nd best to me.

Now the last pair I bought was the Dr Scholls w/ air glide or something but the inner sole came up so it felt like I'm steppin on something:uhoh3:

I dream to get Birkenstocks but I cannot see paying $120 for shoes if I don't like um:rolleyes: .

I hope this helps

BEST nursing shoes I have ever worn are Quarks.

They have different types, but their clog is most comfy and fits great.

I am on my feet usually for 13 hours/shift with little sit down time, in my busy SICU unit, and by the end of my shift, my feet and lower legs don't hurt.

You can find them by typing their name into a search engine.

Love mine and will forever wear them.
