Hi , A coworker and I are starting a project about assigning pat. due to acuity. We would like to use a point system for that and have some ideas. We were wondering if there is anybody out there that works this way and would be willing to share the pro and con´s and explain how the assignment is done. I thank you for any information that you are willing to share. We work on a Med / Surg floor with 42 Pat. We have 1 Unit Secretary 3-4 CNA 1 Charge that mostly takes no Pat 6 RN 1 ANM in the office Christina

HI, I would like to know how your RN Pat. ratio is. I know this has been a topic more then often but I would like to have a bit more information., Do you have IV team, Admission and /or Discharge Rn´s? How many Admitions ? How many CNA´s or Tech´s. ? How often do you have to document, is your assignment made by acuity of the Pat oder just randomly chosen.? What do your Aids do in a 12 hour shift We are trying to make things more effective and are hoping for some information Thanks Christina

Thanks I did look up our policy and every written write up goes to HR I am wondering if for example I have no complaints in the future and I would like an evaluation how long will this write up show up?

Hi I am sitting here and can not figure out the diffrence? I am startting my first nursing job in the US and i will have to take a math test for my new employer... I have got some papers to review and learn from them and i can not find out why these are different: D Desired (Amt ordered) _ Divided by OH On Hand ( or Amt of mixture= ml,cc,units, etc) Example: Dr has ordered Demerol 75mg for your Pat. The Demerol on hand is in a concentration of 50mg/2 ml How many total ml will you give to your Pat? 75 divided by 50mg/2ml = 1.5 ml Ex: Dr has ordered Demerol 75mg It comes packaged (on hand) Demerol 50mg/ 2ml Set up 75mg X xml _ _ 50 mg 2ml cross multiply 75mgX2ml=150mg/ml 50 mgX xml=50mg/xml= 150mg/ml divided by 50mg/mlx= 3ml How is this to understand?

Well as Kersti already has posted it is in the moment very hard to find a position as a nurses in Germany.The older you are and the more experience you have the harder it gets.... I live in Germany and I am going back to the US because I have no chance for further education or a position I would like to work at. The salary is poor and your education would not be accepted and to work as a nurse in Germany is different to what you are used to in the US. I am not the only one I know from several nurses my age (39) that they have problems finding a position in a hospital. I live in the Frankfurt area.

@ Margo I need this because I´m his sponsor he is a German citizen and if I do not have a job offer or a singed contracted we are no allowed to immigrate to the States because you have to meet the poverty guideline.And to meet that I would have to have about $125.000 in cash ...you as the sponsor have to make sure that you are able to pay for your spouse and not the goverment if he / or she gets unemployed , sick , or what ever no medic care and no medic aid If i could I would start off going to the US on my own but we have a Son age 5 how has to be supervised Sure if I were in the States I would just walk in but I´m miles away from home Thanks for the response Monica

@ Suzanne I do not need a Visa because I´m an American citizen and I live in Germany and work in Germany as a nurse at night in a migrain Clinic in Germany I have 20 years of nursing experience The Visa I need is for my husband because I am the sponsor from him Oh this so coplicated ............he is not able to get a Visa if i do not have a job ........... @ nurseMargo yes I could convert it ..... But in Germany you do not earn as much as in th e US would you honestly write down $13 per hour for nights??????? @lawrence01 thought it would be a bit easyer because I´m an American citizen and have a SSN so I do not need a sponsor but I think this makes it even complicated so I´m gonna have to find to climb the mountain from a different way:banghead:

I never assumed that appling for a job in the US is so complecated Not that the most employers exept only online application that are hard to fill out because I gone through different Schools, wages are not comparable, what or who do you put in if they ask for references, 2 differnt people no employers, no relatives....... I could fill my priest but if he would be contacted hes not able to speak english............ My recant employer can´t be contacted because if he new that I am planning to leav , he would not be amused then you are asked when would you like to start working: " ASAP , if I have a job ofer, a signed contract ,then I can apply for the Visa for husband and then I can start to work ...........:uhoh21: How do you all handel these things??????? And what is meant in job description for example: RN staffnurse med/surg Clinical III , Grade 15 or 8,9, etc.? Full time once a week dose that mean I have to work once aweek and the rest on weekends???? Is there some web page to find explainations............ I´m so confused and discouraged please help

Yesterday I received my best and biggest Christmas present my name was listed on the web site from the Florida Bon. :balloons: I just want to let you know if I was able to pass you can pass the boards as well. I´m a German nurse and graduated 1987 in Germany worked on different units till 1990 and then from 1990 tilll 2000 in the OR. From 2000 until 2003 I had maternity leave and now I´m working in a migrain clinic as a night nurse. So for all of you out there you can make it happen do what Suzanne recommends and give it a try.
