Columbia SON MDE 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to start this thread for those who are all applying to the Columbia School of Nursing MDE program for 2019 Entry.

I figured we could all share our thoughts/ questions/ concerns here, or just use this to meet some new people ?

My name is Gurdeep, I'm from NY, and I'm a recent Grad from Binghamton University. Looking forward to meeting all of you ?

Hi all!! Congratulations to all you who got accepted! I also got that heart-stopping email today that said I’m admitted to the MDE/DNP nurse midwifery program! Any other midwives out there? I’ll add myself to the group. Can’t wait to meet you all for orientation ?

Congrats everyone! I just found out that I was accepted to the MDE/DNP FNP program!

I was also accepted into JHU's masters entry program and am having trouble deciding. Any opinions between the two? ?

One is one year program; the other is two year lol. Unless you got generous finaid, I’d say Columbia. ?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I was leaning toward Columbia, but Hopkins did give me some super generous financial aid... One year faster is a huge advantage though. I'm also based in NYC right now, so I'm a bit biased. Just wanted to make sure my bias is not clouding my judgment ?

Haha. I can kind of tell you are from nyc from your username. Haven’t seen Duan Reade anywhere else except nyc. ? I also applied to JHU (Regular Decision) as a back up. But I prefer not to do 2 years.

Congrats to everyone who got in. I was waitlisted. Heart broken!!?

I’m sorry to hear. Did they let you know your # on the list? Hope you can still get in!

Hello! I am applying for the MDE/DNP for Columbia as well as Yale, Boston College and John Hopkins. I currently attend CUNY City College of New York and will be graduating this fall or the coming spring semester with a bachelors of science in biology. Columbia is my first choice since I already live in New York and the commute is only 10-15 minutes. I am interested in doing the geriatric track for DNP or pediatric. Does anyone know when the application opens?

Hi,

I am graduating from City College soon with a degree in Computer Science. Could you explain more about the application process?

Hi all, I also got into NYU ABSN and school is starting this week. I am leaning towards to staying at NYU and reject Columbia. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I also got into the MDE program! I stupidly did not submit my FAFSA until this week though, well after the January 7 deadline for institutional scholarships. Does this mean there's no chance I could receive any financial help from Columbia? I feel like kicking myself ?

Congrats to everyone who received good news yesterday! I was accepted into the MDE/DNP in Midwifery. I'm over the moon! The MDE Merit Scholarship for $15,000 and $40,000 MDE/DNP Seamless Scholarship were offered in my letter. I don't think need based aid was part of this offer. Hoping that is upcoming!

Does anyone have any idea when we will get the financial aid packages? I know for other years they came out alongside the decision letters. Seems this year was different in alot of ways.
