Has anyone started a thread yet? The application is due in 174 days and as you can see I'm already obsessing.
Anyone else?!
Question about the Columbia ETP program vs the JHU Master's of Entry program, Columbia is a program that allows you to graduate as an advanced practice nurse. Upon completion of the JHU program you have a masters in entry degree that is equivalent to bsn?? Anybody know the answer to this. Thats what I took from the website and did not complete my application because of that. They discontinued the combined bsn/msn program. For that simple fact I think Columbia is the better investment.

I think Columbia's program is more convenient and feel confident about the structure. Students would complete the MSN at JHU in only 13 months but would have to complete a new application ( and associated requirements... letters, transcripts, etc) for the NP program with no guarantee of acceptance.
Hey-
I was accepted into the Columbia ETP Psych program. I am trying to decide between MGH and Columbia.... anyone in the same boat?
Columbia is more expensive but seems to have a more organized program than MGH. But MGH is in Boston.. and boy I do love boston. After reading tooonsss of posts I think that the school doesnt matter as much as certification but I want to be the best NP I can...
So lost... hopefully the visiting students day will give me a little clarity. But any allnurses input?
I am in a similar situation. I was accepted to both MGH and Columbia. I was given the MGH Institution Merit Scholarship which cut total tuition down in half. With this reduced rate, it makes the total cost of attendance for MGH much lower than Columbia. On the other hand Columbia is a nationally and arguably, internationally recognized name, which could carry you further than MGH. With MGH, you'll probably be somewhat limited to the Northeast.
Personally, it's still a hard decision because MGH is so much cheaper given the merit scholarship they gave me. But if you did not receive this merit scholarship, I think it's a no-brainer to attend Columbia simply because of the reputation of an Ivy. In a lot of hospitals and clinics outside of the Northeast when you mention MGH, they'll be like, "MGH? Huh?" But when you say Columbia, they all know what you're talking about.

Weeding people out?! How? I shouldn't have read that blog... the last post really stressed me out. Seems like a worst case scenario situation
On a lighter note, do we not need to send in official transcripts? I used my official ones for 2 of my 4 universities anyway, but I was just wondering...
