Columbia ETP 2015

Published

Has anyone started a thread yet? The application is due in 174 days and as you can see I'm already obsessing.

Anyone else?!

Agree~ Same situation here

Does anyone know how long we have to pay our deposit if we get admitted?

It must at least be a few weeks...the decisions will be posted mid-February (according to the email), and accepted students day will be in March. Posts from past application cycles indicate people made their decisions after the accepted students day. So that's at least a few weeks.

However, I did read that some schools notify relatively early but other schools, like Yale, don't let you know until March. It sounded like people had to put down deposits at their safety schools while waiting to hear from Yale. I believe most of the earlier notifiers (according to posts from the past two years) were west coast schools.

That's exactly my dilemma. I have applied to both Columbia and Yale. Don't want to miss an opportunity if one gives better financial aid than the other. Thanks for the info!

Just saw on last year's thread that decisions went out early Feb and deposit deadline was something like March 21. That makes me feel better. Financial aid is going to be my deciding factor for either of these two schools.

Hey Everybody... my name is Nesi and I'm a current ETP student on the PNP track. Feel free to PM me for any doubts, questions or concerns. Here to help!

If you don't mind me asking what were your stats?

Hi! I'm a current ETPer as well on the FNP track..here to help!

Bachelors in Applied Health from Indiana University and was part of the Hutton Honors College there

GPA: 3.9

GRE: 311 combined and 4.0 on writing --> I think I was middle of the road for percentile (56ish?)

dietetic internship at University of Virginia and then was working as an RD in alternative medicine for a couple years before applying to nursing school

more importantly than stats though, your personal and statement and letters of rec are what get you accepted so don't sweat too much about the stats :)

My stats are boring but I'm pretty cool lol I studied premed in the Caribbean 3.4 gpa prereqs 4.0 gre verbal 90% math 50% im bilingual (spanish) lots of volunteer work, strong personal statement, got awesome LORs and kept an upbeat attitude. I was waitlisted (on feb 7th) and then was accepted (on May 8th). I was super lucky! I love it here :) stay positive!

sweet03nesy, it's reassuring to hear from someone who was originally waitlisted. What's the process like when you're waitlisted? Do you just kind of wait patiently until hopefully a spot opens up, or does the school update you during that wait? Were you accepted to any other programs - i'm curious what happens if you accept somewhere else but pull out for another program months later.

I was waitlisted in Feb however, I did hear back from the school 2-3 times after keeping me updated. Because students were required to accept or decline their acceptance early on, every time a spot opened up someone on the waitlist received the offer. They say the waitlist is not ranked however they really try to get you into your specialty of choice. By May, I was offered acceptance into ETP and pediatrics. Some students turned down their offers, however I only applied to this program.

Do you like the program? Do you get enough clinical experience?

Would you need a car to get around the area, or is the public transportation good enough to not need one?
