Columbia ETP Program 2012 entry

Published

Hi,

I plan on applying for the anesthesia program at Columbia and I wanted to know how the background of those that have been accepted look like to see if I'm even competitive enough apply.

Thanks!

I also got waitlisted!!! So I guess there is still hope. Congrats to everyone who got accepted!!

decisions are up can't bring myself to look..i will though in just a couple of minutes

is there anyone out there who got in who was in the waitlist last year and their application got forwarded?

congrats to all

Lol my success story of recovery from mental illness. I applied psych NP.

I was wait-listed last year and wait-listed again. I am totally ok with it because I was already accepted into a program closer to home and half the price, so I am very excited!! It seems a little odd though that Columbia couldn't just make-up their mind. Why place someone on the wait-list again, either you like the applicant or not. A little odd. I will be taking myself out of the wait-list pool, so good-luck to those of you on the wait-list and another spot is open :)

I just want to say that I am also on another discussion thread for a different nursing school, and the people on THIS discussion thread for Columbia are hands down the nicest and most helpful people. I'm sure this translates to the attitude of the student body as well ;)

For those waitlisted: chin up!

I was accept for the FNP track, but I've decided to accept a place in another program that's better suited for me. So, there's one more spot that opened up!

Good luck, everyone! I know we'll be amazing no matter what.

I am in for FNP! Congrats everyone and goodluck to waitlisters. Can't wait to meet you all!

I friend of mine who has done the program said that the midwifery program frowns on working and also its schedule means it is basically not possible. However, I'm still trying to get a handle on just is it possible to get a job as an RN after the first year -- for example, I would Love to be able to work on a labor and delivery floor as an RN (maybe take a year off to do so) but without experience i dont know if thats like saying I would like to win the lottery.

1923, thanks for the info. I figured as much about midwifery, though I would love to get experience while in school (and make some money so I'm not poor poor poor!). I've seen some posts on an saying that L&D is super competitive, especially as a new RN...but I'm sure that it's highly variable from state to state, hospital to hospital, and you might just get lucky too, couldn't hurt to try when the time comes, (though I'd venture to say your lottery estimation is probably dead on lol). Thanks again for the info.

Congrats to all who were accepted, and hope to see most of you during visiting day! Goodluck to waitlisters, and to those who will not attend Columbia this year for whatever reason...good luck in your future plans :)

Congrats to those accepted! To those waitlisted, try and stay positive. I was accepted ED but opted not to keep my spot - hopefully it will go to (or already went to?) one of you guys. I'll be attending another program. I just wanted to say that I wish you guys the best and I'm sad that I won't get to meet you all. Enjoy NYC!

Accepted! I am waiting to figure out financial aid, but will also likely opt out (I was also accepted to UPenn). Congratulations to everyone accepted and wait-listed!

I got in too!! For Women's Health NP. Is there anyone else on this forum doing women's health? I hope we find out about financial aid soon... I have some major decisions to make, and I'm not sure that I can afford to live in NYC... Congrats and goodluck to everyone!
