Columbia ETP Program 2012 entry

Published

Hi,

I plan on applying for the anesthesia program at Columbia and I wanted to know how the background of those that have been accepted look like to see if I'm even competitive enough apply.

Thanks!

I just got in for Pediatrics! Congrats everyone, can't wait to see you guys on visiting day! Is anyone setting up a facebook group?

I got in for FNP! Columbia is my top choice, but finance is also an issue that I am looking into. Does anyone know around when they will be releasing financial aid? I would absolutely love to attend, but fear over the struggles of living in NYC without a job (as I am sure many of you do as well). Any insight?

On the financial aid website they say that if you have your FAFSA in by Feb. 15th, you should expect a financial aid package by the end of March. So... the waiting continues! haha

Just checked, ACCEPTED !!!! CNM to be is me!!!

But don't we have to make a decision before march? I would like to know my position with financial aid before making my decision/deposit...

Hi doula kerry, congrats!! I am also in for CNM and very happy to hear that you are too. Will you be attending visiting day?

yes, I live in CT so it's just a train ride away!!!

congrats to everyone who got in!!!!

i applied to the Nurse Anesthesia specialty and was not accepted. but i was accepted to Penn's, so i am really excited. :) columbia is awesome, SO happy for everyone!!!!! NYC is amazing!

Just accepted to the Adult NP specialty! I plan to commute from Brooklyn, where I've been for about 4 years and things are more affordable, although I did live in Washington Heights for a time. Feel free to PM me if you've any questions about living in the city!

Congrats to everyone that got in! I was accepted into the FNP track but I think I'm going to decline because I got into another program that I like better, so that leaves another spot open. Good luck everyone!

What's the deal with housing? Anyone looking for a roommate?

If I end up at Columbia, I will absolutely be looking for a roommate! I think it would be much better to live with fellow students than alone or with someone random. :)

It seems like many people (at least on this forum) are choosing to go elsewhere- would you mind sharing your insights as to why you prefer other programs to Columbia's? (or for those of you who are attending- why did you choose Columbia?) I honestly don't feel like I know much about the program and am a little intimidated by living in New York (it would be such a change for me). Any insight from others would be much appreciated!

Thank you
