Columbia ETP Program 2012 entry

Published

Hi,

I plan on applying for the anesthesia program at Columbia and I wanted to know how the background of those that have been accepted look like to see if I'm even competitive enough apply.

Thanks!

Same about living in the city...that's part of what has me leaning towards UPenn. I'm Family Nurse Practitioner...still haven't seen anyone from my FNP cohort on either of the forums! Anybody out there?

Just got accepted for FNP!!!!

Yeah, I'm most likely attending Penn as well. I just can't afford to live in NYC.

I was accepted to women's health too! Columbia is my number one choice as I already live in NYC, but am still waiting to hear about financial aid before making my final decision. Did everyone fill out their FAFSA already? Congrats everyone!

Even though I didn't get in, I would be happy to discuss living expenses in NYC with anyone who is interested- I'm a current grad student in the city and have been living here for 3 years now :).

i just filled my fafsa out yesterday! haha.

@jrf222- Do you think you would move if you decide to attend Columbia? I've heard that Washington Heights isn't the safest place to live, but I don't know much about where nursing students live in order to get to classes and clinicals.

Decisions are up!! Good luck to all!! I am in for Pediatrics!

I got in for Pediatrics too! Are you thinking of going there? Or are you waiting on other schools

@barbiemafia did you get in?

@silvrdove I'm not planning on moving. I live in midtown, but I have other friends who lived in Morning Side Heights while attending Columbia and felt safe. I'd also look into Brooklyn or Queens. While it's a further commute, rent in those boroughs is much cheaper than Manhattan and public transportation makes it easy to get around.

Just found out that I got in as well. Congrats to everyone.:yeah:

I got accepted to the Women's Health track.... Would love to touch base with other Womens Health ppl!!

Accepted to acute.
