Hi,
I plan on applying for the anesthesia program at Columbia and I wanted to know how the background of those that have been accepted look like to see if I'm even competitive enough apply.
Thanks!
Stay strong everyone! I'm sure we could each pick one thing out on our apps that might not be our strongest point. We're human. We all have a weakness. Remember, they're looking at us from a "whole package" perspective. Maybe if we all stay positive the wait will go by faster! lol.
So true!!! I agree. We are all stressing right now and I can understand why. Just know we all want this so bad and are doing everything we can to get to our goal. Good luck to all of us :)
Is anyone here a re-applicant from last year? Do they treat a re-applicant the same as a first timer? And do they give feed back to people who were rejected or wait-listed?
No one can say for sure that their acceptance is in the bag. But one thing is clear- this is certainly a very competitive program and with the first year for ED, anything goes.
This is the only program I want to get into, and this is the only program that I applied to. If I don't get in, I will go back to the drawing board and back at it again next year. Fingers crossed that won't be the case. :)
Everyone applied ED, BEST WISHES! Keep your mind on your strong points and have faith that those points will shine through!
@CUSONAPP: Yes, I'm reapplying. I didn't get in last year. They didn't offer any specific recommendations, but I know that other people spoke to someone at CUSON and got a few pointers.
I'm retaking a C- psych class from college, and I completely revamped my essay from the ground up. I've also completed now all of the prereqs except statistics, which I'll be done with very soon. I asked **** if I was taking the right approach this year, and he said I seemed to be on the right track.
Other than not having to resend my older transcripts and GRE scores, my application was treated the same as it was last year. I highly doubt they give people reapplying any other kind of special consideration, except perhaps brownie points for optimistic persistence! ;D

Has anyone taken the new GRE?
