  1. They must've got the list together sooner than that. When I emailed beginning of the week, she had said they hoped to get the list together by Friday...which means they got it sooner and notified everyone before sending out that update email. I'm sure they contacted the individuals by email..since that's what they did with all other decisions. I saw that email too, and I was so bummed. Even though I knew it was a longshot, I couldn't help but hope I could get it. Sigh..helloooo, private loans.
  2. hi everyone, i had contacted JHU about the merit scholarship, and they said that they hoped to get the final list by tomorrow! that was what they said earlier this week, but i hope that means we could find out by tomorrow! i know it's a longshot..but i can't help hoping!!
  3. Hi everyone! Question..anyone who lives near JHU now and thoughts about gyms? Does anyone use the JHU gym? I notice there aren't any 24 Hour Fitnesses out there. Also, has anyone heard back about the Merit Scholarship or have a better estimate of when we get to find out about them? I know they said March, but just wondering when!! I know it's a long shot, but can't help but hope! Also, do any previous students have advice or more personal experience with getting loans during the MSN portion of the program through the JHU credit union? What kinds of discounts are there if you work at the JHU hospital? Is it relatively easy to get a job at the JHU hospital after finishing the BSN portion? Do you get better interest rates through the credit union? Thanks!
  4. Sorry to hear about that, hang in there!!!
  5. Also, what gym do people use? Does JHU have a good gym for a reasonable price? I think I saw that it was $180/year, but not sure if it's actually decent. Doesn't look like there's a 24 hour fitness out there, which are pretty common in California. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
  6. Hi everyone! I was planning to attend the Accepted Students' Day, but I'm coming all the way from California, and it just seems like such a high cost to fly out there April 20th, and then basically fly out there again to move over there in May to start the summer. Is everyone planning to attend? Also, does anyone know what day they're going to move out there? Since classes start May 29th, I'm thinking I'll give myself at least a week and move out there May 21st to have enough time to move/buy things/acclimate. I am still torn about having a car or not. I really want to sell my car and just not worry about it for the next 3 years (insurance, etc.). Anyway, I'm so excited!!!
  7. Thanks, you're right. I have so much thinking left to do about this. Anyway, good luck!!
  8. Yeah, i think that is it. Only observation type trips. This is kind of the deciding factor for me because I really want to be able to go abroad and do work! But, I still need to find out how likely JHU students get to go is. If it's very selective and there is a high chance that I won't be able to end up going, I don't want to rule out Yale either then. LookingAhead, are you deciding between schools too?
  9. Are any of the BSN/MSN accepted students deciding between Hopkins and other schools? Or are there any former students who can shed some light on Hopkins? I feel like I have heard so many good things about Hopkins, but to make sure I have an unbiased opinion, I want to know if there's anything bad. Also, does anyone know how selective JHU is with the public health rotations that you can do abroad? I really want to do one!!
  10. Hi Biddy, I am struggling to decide between Yale or Hopkins for FNP. I decided against Columbia because they did not have any opportunities to go abroad on rotations that Hopkins and Yale offer. I am not sure how much to base my decision on rankings considering Hopkins is #1 in Nursing overall, #7 FNP, while Yale is #7 in Nursing overall, and also #7 in FNP. I am pretty adaptable to a lot of situations, so the cities do not bother me at all. I've always had dreams to go to an Ivy League school, which may seem silly, but it seems hard to just let go of Yale. But Hopkins seems to offer so much in terms of its public health rotations abroad, etc. If anyone still follows this thread, how did you end up deciding? Thank you!
  11. The guy who interviewed me called me at about 10:45am PST. Now, just two finals to go!
  12. I did!!! AHH!!!! I'm in for BSN/MSN FNP!!!! Good luck everyone!!!
  13. Wow, I wasn't even expecting people to hear anything back until the 15th! I'm super nervous. I just got back from a weekend in NY and Philly (interviewed at UPenn!), but I have a root canal and a make-up Microbio final to take tomorrow, and then A&P final the day after. I can't WAIT for this semester to be over with, and it would be really nice to cap it off with some POSITIVE news. Good luck everyone!!!
  14. Hi, I live in Sacramento, and usually mail only takes a day! I'm nervous, and I have a flight to the East Coast for an interview but I hope the mailman comes with good news before I leave!! I know with UPenn (where I'm going to interview), they emailed people for interviews across a whole week. It seemed like they did them in batches by specialty..maybe that's what they're doing here! After all, it probably takes a while to send personalized letters and triple-check they're sending them to the right people, etc. CROSSING FINGERS!!! Gluck everyone!!
