Columbia ETP Program 2012 entry

Published

Hi,

I plan on applying for the anesthesia program at Columbia and I wanted to know how the background of those that have been accepted look like to see if I'm even competitive enough apply.

Thanks!

Is anyone else applying from California?

I'm from Cali MissTessSF :) I guess we're willing to make the BIG move if we get in haha

For the applicants who haven't finished their pre-reqs yet, does your application status say pre-reqs recieved not official? and if so, was your application still considered complete and sent to the committee? One of my professors was late sending the letter in so my initial review was considered incomplete, and now I just want to make sure everything else is ok before the friday deadline. thanks!

I'm on the west coast (not currently in CA, but I'm from CA, hehe) and yeah, it will be a big move going from the pacific coast to the east coast! Just thinking about it gets me excited... I'm ready for change, hehe.

Yes, my application says I have several things missing. However, **** is still out of the office; he said that he personally has to update my application next week because I applied last year; my GRE scores, transcripts, etc. aren't listed there. Additionally, judging from last year's application, there are sometimes mistakes on your online profile: my app was forwarded to the committee even though it said online I had some unofficial/missing elements (which I didn't). So I would just wait a bit, and pershaps email **** and politely ask.

Hey all, I know this doesn't directly relate but I thought I'd share anyway because it's interesting.... I passed my IBCLC boards and now am officially an IBCLC (lactation consultant). Happy doesn't begin to describe what I'm feeling.... :hrnsmlys: Good luck everyone !

Congrats Doula Kerry!! :)

Congrats! Its great you have exciting things going on right now.

Just a quick heads up to all those who took the GRE post Aug. 1st:

Scores are now posted on the ETS website!

Best of luck to everyone!

Question for anyone who applied to Columbia's ETP program for fall 2012:

approximately how long did it take from the time they received your transcripts till they were listed as "received" on the application website? I sent mine about 3 weeks ago, but it's still listed as "not received." Just wondering if this was typical processing time...

After my inital review being incomplete because I was missing a letter of rec, my status never changed from an incomplete application to a complete one once the letter was recieved. I called the admissions office last Friday and they said that my app was complete but to give it until Monday for the status online to change. It still hasn't changed for me, so I'm willing to bet that they are still in the process of updating info etc. I'm hoping this is the case, because I don't want to be annoying and call again. Have you tried calling them about your transcripts yet?

I nervous as well because one of my transcripts still says "not received." I have e-mailed them the unofficial version but am really hoping they get them so I will still be considered for early decision. It seems like all of us are having the same problem so hopefully they're just a bit behind updated the site.
