I'm new to this allnurses.com. I want to let Colorado Nurses and anyone registered as a nurse in Colorado that their home addresses can be found on the website of the Colorado Board of Nursing.
Here's the url: https://www.doradls.state.co.us/lic_database_req.php
When I telephoned them to voice my grievance I was told that Colorado has a strong full disclosure law and that I should write my congressman about this issue.

omg that is horrible. that is pushing things a little to far. there are laws to protect our patients from invasion of privacy, where the heck are the laws that protect nurses. i mean come on if you have one of those pt's that are any bit resourceful then they can get anything on you especially if they found some reason to like or worse dislike you.
yes i agree that there should be some way for the public to know about nurses, but home address thats to much. is the colorado bon going to protect you or your family if something freaky or weird happens. or better yet will they be held responsible for publishing this info if a nurse is stalked??:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire

If Colorado's disclosure law requires this, the board is just doing what they are required to do.
And if a Colorado nurse has a problem with this, the one to take it up with is the legislature. They're the ones who put such a law into effect. Likewise, they are the ones who can repeal the law.

I'm not from Colorado, but I don't see any full addresses on that site. I only see city, state and zip. They do the same thing here in TX. Seems like you should be able to opt out of that kind of disclosure though.

the file that i pulled up has the rn's name, address (street name and number) and city of residence. it doesn't scare you to know that anyone can get that kind of info on you easy as pie. sorry it does bother me.

I've got news for you: If I know your full name and current city, I can find out just about anything I want to know about you.
Privacy? Just an illusion in the Information Age.
However, it really isn't very nice of the gooberment in Colorado to make it easy to do.

Pennsylvania also has the town and zip you live in.

I am licensed in three states. All three have my address listed online. It bothered me how readily accesible it is. So, I opted to get a PO Box. Now I am listed as a box number in a town rather than having my street address listed.
Jim, maybe the link I sent you was incorrect. The way I found out that my address, INCLUDING MY APARTMENT NUMBER was on that site is this: I went to the Colorado Board of Nursing Home Page. I clicked on licensee data base request, then on the page it sent me to i clicked on the link to dora, then i clicked on active licenses, then i found myname, address, apartment number. i called the board of nursing and told them what i found and then they told me what i put on my post......to write my congressman.
Go to State of Colorado Board of Nursing, on the upper right click licensee data base, then on the next page click the link then on the next page click active, then on the following page click the link to txt download. You'll see it.
