Collin College Summer 2016 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

HEY Folks!!

Just wondering how many of you there are out there who have applied for the accelerated Summer ADN Program at Collin College! I have not seen anything posted on the web and I would love to get in touch with everyone!

So excited!

Sounds good. I will be waiting until after orientation for the list then, meanwhile I will save up for the expense.

Any advice from you Summer students on what to go ahead and buy now that we know we are accepted? Like stethoscope, planners, etc.

My cousin who is a nurse gifted me her first stethoscope which is pretty cool because I look up to her so much! And planner I'll have to buy a new one since the one I bought prior had the wrong dates.

Ok! Thanks so much for the info! Very helpful! :)

That's weird! When I went down to the bookstore, they gave me the list quite happily! But it was not 100% clear; there were some items like the access card that I couldn't find online, and I wasn't sure if the list was complete. But anyway @Claire_Bear - check your PM.

Hey everyone!! I was wondering if anyone could give me size reference on the scrubs for the program? I know all scrubs fit different and (unless you can try them on at the bookstore) I don't want to buy the wrong size. Some scrubs I wear now are an XXS and others are a large or medium so depending on how Collins fit, I don't want them to be too small or huge. I'm 5'5 & 125 pounds. Anyone else around the same?

OMG guys!!!! Less than a week till we start nursing school!

What should we expect from orientation? What all do we do?

After all this trouble....still no blue card. I just can't catch a break. It was sent on the 20th of April and I been watching the mail like a hawk. Knew it was a postcard so was careful to look. (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) wont respond. I am at my wits end. It's one thing after another. Hope everyone else is having better luck!

Did anyone get there titer done for the program? If so, did anyone have a negative antibody for hep B but had the shot series years ago? I have heard of this happening and heard you have to redo the series. Wouldn't redoing the series cause problems since you have to have all immunizations done before clinicals start?

hi Tiff,

I had asked the same question a couple of days ago, and this is what somebody replied....

"It will be a loooong day, take lots of notes of all instructions and directions they give. Wear something comfortable. We got an hour lunch break but you have to get your own lunch. and from what I understand you don't get a choice on clinical site. We were just told what day our clinicals will be and that there are few sites but you don't get to pick and choose, it's mostly psyche and medsurg floor and everyone has to do certain number of hours in each."

Yeah I saw that one. I was seeing if anyone else had any tips for orientation.

Orientation is pretty basic. It primarily covers all the paper work that's need and some expectation. There will be another orientation day 1 of class and it covers all the class stuff.
